Looking for some advice on whether or not my schedule looks good for first semester. I am NOT a DA to Kelley, so looking to apply at the end of second semester. My goal is to complete I-Core pre-reqs while maintaining the highest grades possible through entry level general education courses in order to maintain a B or higher.

BUS-A 100 (First 8 Weeks)[Basic Accounting Skills] - Winston
CMCL-C 121 [Public Speaking] - Not Yet Assigned
ENG-W 170 [Intro To Argumentative Writing] - Peebles
MATH-M 118 [Finite Mathematics] - McKinley
SOC-S 100 [Intro to Sociology] - Robinson
TEL-T 205 [Intro to Media and Society] - Paul

Any comments would be great.

It all looks good except for the T205 class with Paul.

Paul grades too tough (average grade is a C+), so I’d switch to one of the T206 classes with either Susan Kelly or Steve Krahnke.

My son took this T206 class as a freshman with Kelly and got a B+. He said it would have been an A-, but the final project took him a bit more time than he had budgeted in his schedule (plus he took A100 during the last eight weeks, not the first 8 weeks–so this really ate into his schedule at the end of the term). You hopefully won’t have this problem–since you are taking A100 during the first eight week period.

My mistake–Paul’s average grades are a B-, not a C+.

Still better to take the other class (TEL T206), though.

Is it better to take A100 in the first, or second 8 weeks? I’m currently planning to take it in the second eight weeks. Am I in a bad position? The teacher is Owens.

I would recommend taking it the first 8 weeks because if you do poorly on the midterm you can just drop and retake the course the following 8 weeks while everything is still fresh in your memory. Hopefully you won’t have to drop, but you never know.
