First Semester GPA 3.46

Hey Guys,

Figured out today I will probably most definitely get a 3.46 (2 A's and 2 Bs) at the end of my first semester ( I took 13 hours this semester). I go to a Top 15 Public University (Public Ivy)/Top 50 school and I am an Accounting/Business major. Our school is somewhat known to be very competitive and hard and I was wondering if a 3.46 is going to hurt me in the long run. It sucks because I haven't even touched my major classes yet so far I am taking somewhat intro level classes (Integral Calculus, US History, Art History, Seminar Course in Film) and our business school is extremely competitive and prestigious and I would like to land a good internship later on. How bad will this hurt me necessarily?

Thanks

Not at all. Most employers don’t care about your gpa. Not to mention that this is your gpa from your FIRST semester. Nobody will care. You are fine. Relax

Not a big deal, first semester of college is often a learning process all it’s own. Learning how to budget your time, how to study college level work, all that fun stuff. The good internships often require a 3.5 GPA, at least around here, but with how few credits you have so far a straight A semester next semester will have you back over a 3.5 anyways. I had a 3.26 when I started back to school after a long gap. Already pulled it back over a 3.5 thanks to 29 credits at A’s. Look at what hurt your grades and make a plan for next semester. Get your books early and start studying them for next semester as soon as you take finals for this one…
