First Time... UPenn, Boston U, Notre Dame, etc.... No, I don't have a 2400 SAT and 38 AP classes...

Hi,

So I know this site is known for ripping people apart, and since I’m about ready to apply to college I’m ready to go give this thing a go. So I want to study Finance and German in college, and I have been looking for schools that have good programs in both areas. I don’t have an insane resume, but I would still like to think that you don’t have to be a god to get into a good school. These are the schools I’d like to you to chance me for (they are roughly in order by preference):

UPenn (Huntsman program) I will be applying binding early decisions, so that should hopefully help a little bit If you can think of other schools I can consider, that’d be great too!

Boston U
Georgetown
Northeastern
Notre Dame
Carnegie Mellon
U Michigan Ann Arbor
University of VA
NYU
UT Austin
Southern Methodist U
U Richmond
U South Carolina
Indiana University- Bloomington

So I guess here’s my stuff.

I think that’s about everything! Il’ll try to chance you back too!

I am very honest on chance threads and have been criticized of being too pessimistic at times. I can truly say this is one of the first times that I’ve said that almost all of these are matches. I think Carnegie Mellon is the only low reach, and UVA would have been if you weren’t in state. Great application; keep up the good work.

I’m being completely honest but…
Even if you had 2400 and 38 AP Classes and 4.0/5.1 GPA, You would probably not even be considered into the Huntsman Program because its literally the most exclusive and top business programs in the nation.

Otherwise,
Boston U- match
Georgetown- low reach
Northeastern- high match
Notre Dame- reach
Carnegie Mellon- low reach/reach
U Michigan Ann Arbor- low reach
University of VA- reach
NYU- low reach
UT Austin- high match
Southern Methodist U- not sure
U Richmond- not sure
U South Carolina- match
Indiana University- Bloomington- match

Oh, sorry… I didn’t see the part about Penn. That’s a high reach,

Thanks so much! I mean, someone is getting into Hunstman. What are those people like? :open_mouth:

Your ECs and GPA are pretty good, I think you should focus on getting your SAT and SAT Subject scores up (esp. German and Math 2). If you do that, your chances are heightened agof these schools

UPenn (Huntsman)- high reach
Boston U- match
Georgetown- low reach
Northeastern- high match
Notre Dame- reach
Carnegie Mellon- reach (get that Math 2 score up)
U Michigan Ann Arbor- low reach
University of VA- high match/low reach (in state helps a lot)
NYU- low reach
UT Austin- high match
Southern Methodist U- low/match
U Richmond- high/match
U South Carolina- match
Indiana University- Bloomington- match

Chance me back:

Like what tigerrocks13 said before, I think that you have a decent shot at most of your desired schools, except for Carnegie, which might is going to be a reach for you. Also, just like to point out that from another perspective, it seems like you have a lot of leadership. Cudos to you!

P.S: Could you chance me to on my thread? Thanks!

UMich LSA would be a reach for you. Can you recalculate your GPA in UMich’s way (all As are 4.0, all Bs are 3.0, etc). If you have nothing lower than A-, it will be 4.0 in UM GPA. Without recalculation, your GPA is below admission average (3.85) while your SAT is near the 25th percentile (mid 50 is 2040-2280). Their OOS admission rate is near 20% this year, your chance would be below the admission rate due to your SAT score (and GPA?). UMich does not require SAT2 and your course rigor is okay although not great.

I don’t know enough about those schools to chance you, but just wanted to say hey to you, sir, from a fellow Lt in CAP. (I’m a 2nd Lt.)

Okay so ill respond to everyone. So my course rigor of 4 APs are the hardest classes my school offers, as we are an extremely small school. My GPA is unweighted, so the APs and honors are already factored out, and I have all As. So I guess by UMich standards, I would have a 4.0. But thanks everyone!

Hallo, Wie gehts? You’re a well-qualified applicant. UPenn is a reach for everyone, but the rest of your schools all seem like solid matches and even a safety or two. Good luck!

Good list of schools, might take a look at Holy Cross in Massacusetts -smaller version of Georgetown and ND. Holy Cross offers great combination of academics and social activities, offers ROTC programs and has tremendous school spirit(imo better academic reputation than BU and Northeastern. HC website is informative.
