I am an incoming freshmen and have my major as biology. I am not too confident that I will stick to this major. I currently have chem14a as a class, which is a part of the bio GE. I am thinking of switching to psychology, but chem is not a part of the psych GE. So if I do switch, then I'm just wasting my time first quarter...right? Choosing your major in your undergrad application is much more important than I thought. I feel screwed right now.

Nooo you cannot explore aimlessly... must make sure u satisfy GEs blahblahblah and fulfill major requirements and provide yourself enough breathing room in the scenario where you might want to switch majors (like taking courses that satisfy two majors blahblahblah)

you can take what ever you want. You're not stuck with the LS core. take the psych classes and then just declare later. The school won't hover over you saying, "take chem 14 or perish or something..."

at least i don't think so.

haha, you haven't even begun the pre-med route and down you go.

I think we're on different pages. ANyway, yah i feel the same since i have mostly science classes and am taking a for physics/engr/chem/w/e majors sequences instead of for life sciences because im not sure whati want to do...

You've got TONS of time. I say stick with the chem until you're 100% sure you want to switch. If you drop chem, and then decide to stick to bio, you're just going to have to take it later. So keep the chem, try to take the quarter to think about it and decide. If you end up switching to psych...oh well. Lots of people end up changing their minds much later than you're talking about changing your mind and they do just fine. All it means is that you'll have taken the one extra class, which really isn't so bad.

it is true. it fulfills the physical science nonlab GE. check the site.. eh i dont have the link but emmeline or some link poster will do it. since you're not considering history/literature/politics as a major, your cluster will perfectly take care of those requirements. and math is needed for psychology maybe?

vega07, ah, I might be in your GE cluster! yes, stick with chem, it may prove useful later on, but I think it's too much work for a GE. GE's are supposed to be easy. Like my art of listening class! hehe.

heres what you should do if you are undecided. pick tracks and make a 4 year plan for each of them. then go individually each quarter and pick what type of classes u want to take. and since classes are filled quickly, have backup plasn such as 5 years or summer sessions. i'd say less than 10% chance you'll follow thru it, but its fun and reassuring.
