For my Freshmen year of College, I attended Northeastern University. However, I had a really bad GPA (2.5). It was not because I was partying, which I honestly did not do at all. It was just because of family problems from the declining economy, and other circumstances which required me travelling back home EVERY weekend. After one year of that, I transferred to Queens College and now have a GPA of 3.8, with an Accounting major in honors.

I was always a good student with good grades, I just did bad freshmen year because of factors beyond my control, which is why I had to transfer.

I know Law Schools regard the GPA highly. Can 3 years of a good GPA at a different school make Law Schools overlook the bad freshmen year GPA? (providing everything else in my application is good - LSATS, letters, etc)

Thanks

As you already know, you must turn in all of your transcripts so your LSDAS gpa is going to be lower than the 3.8 that you have now.

That being said, you can and probably should write an addendum explaining what happened (don’t be whinny or sound like Woe is Me).

Damn, that is exactly what I didn’t want. =(…Factoring in my bad Freshmen year grades, I am predictin around a 3.3 GPA, which is way below what I wanted or thought I would get.

I’ll have to work extra hard then. I am looking to get into St. John’s Law School and I hope this won’t be a huge detriment.

My current transcript from Queens College has Northeastern University on it and all the transferred classes/credits without the grade. How come I can’t just send that?

Because they want to see all of your grades, the ones you like and the ones that you don’t like.
