First week in April

I think I'm more anxious than my daughter is about when and what she is going to hear from RISD.

She has gotten in to the following colleges/accepted and all three have offered her scholarships.
Cleveland Institute of Art
California College of the Arts (nice campus in Oakland and in San Fran)
and of course, Rocky Mountain School of Art here in Denver...

This waiting is killing me!

I know how you feel. I won't be applying until next year, but one of my good friends is a senior. I think I was more excited than she was when she got into MICA (and a few others). Now I'm getting anxious waiting for her to hear from RISD. I'm making her email me the second she gets that letter.

And congrats to your daughter for her acceptances so far! Good luck with RISD.

I can definately empathize with you. I've gotten into MICA which is a wonderful school, but I still really wanna hear from RISD! I have a feeling this week will go by extremly slowly. Ugh.

I absolutely hear all of you on this one. My daughter is in at SU, MICA, Pratt, RIT, & SUNY Purchase. We have been told the RISD notices go out the end of this week and if you are awarded any scholarships, it will be included. I have to say I have felt very confident for her, but really, there is so much incredible talent with so many of you... and given the popularity and notariety of RISD, it means that even if you are RISD material, there just may not be enough space for you.

My hope is that she has faith in the universe, that if she puts it all out there, and does her best, that she will be guided towards where she is meant to be. Acceptance or no acceptance. Probably easier said from a parents perspective huh?!

I really wish all of you the best of luck. Please share when you get your good news:)!

Anyone heard anything yet? We're waiting for the decision for my daughter, and it's definitely a reach for her. She attended the pre-college program last summer and loved it, so she is hoping for good news....
She's been accepted to SCAD, which we're not so sure about, and a couple of Cal State schools, but waiting to hear from SMFA and RISD....keeping fingers crossed here!~

hmmm.. i heard from smfa.. a long time ago too.. maybe it's rolling? i assumed they sent out all decisions out at once b/c both my friend and i heard on the same day, but i guess not.. maybe by region then? who knows..

and i still haven't heard from risd, i think they go out the first..

Yes, I think SMFA is rolling. They lost her SAT scores, so she had to have them sent again. What did you think of SMFA?

ah! what a pain.. i'm sure it won't hurt your chances though, after all, it was THEIR fault..

i liked smfa. i thought the facilities were fabulous and the kids were hit/miss- either really engaged or total air heads, and i also like the whole academic atmosphere of boston and that you can take classes at tufts. all the studio classes are in one building, but it felt bigger than i guess it actually was. one thing that made me nervous was the grading. you have this big review at the end of each semester and you have on faculty and two peers review your work of the whole semester- in all classes. and then you pass or fail the semester, but there is apparently enough warning in the individual classes if you aren't working hard enough in them so you are sort of prepared to defend why you only have, say two doodles for an illustration class.. i dunno. it has some great things and some not so great things, i just don't know how well i personally can do with so much freedom (there are also no majors..) i think you have to have a lot of passion and time management.. but in all, i think it's a really fabulous school. hope that helps, let me know if you're still curious about something..

what were your thoughts? are risd and smfa your top two? (if so, what is it you liked about them.. they just seem SO different to me.. just curious..)

So, theoretically, if the RISD notices were sent out at the end of last week (I'm assuming you meant Thursday or Friday) that there is a possibly it could be in the mail tomorrow morning.... or am I dreaming?

As you are on the east coast... post when you get your mail today. I won't even be home until 7 p.m. tonight.

Yikes!!

I am with you kathismom... I am waiting to hear from my daughter. She should be home in about 25 min, and I am expecting there to be SOMETHING in the mailbox. (I am stuck at work as well) Like your daughter, it is her first choice, and the only one she hasn't heard from. The waiting is intense today. We are east coast, and will post once we hear....

nothing from risd today..... stuff from all of the other schools, but nothing from risd....

I'm in VA and there is NOTHING today. Gahh.

nothing in Los Angeles yet, either

Nothing today again... I sure hope it comes by tomorrow. We are going out of town for a week!

this is worse than having to pee..all this waiting.

Dear Alison,

Your decision letter was mailed on 4/2 to Virginia. Therefore, you should receive your letter by the end of this week.

Sincerely,

RISD Admissions Office

Slaps face Yesterday?!?! Are you KIDDING me? I bet if I was accepted she would've just told me.

Nah, I'm sure they can't tell you over the phone.

Fingers Crossed for you!

I agree, she would never tell over the phone... I saw your work and think it is very good. I am sure if you have the grades and SATs you will get in!

Well, you should be getting it sometime soon. My friend in Massachusetts just called me screaming. She got in, btw. ^_^ happy dance

Good luck to all of you!
