First-Year Honors Program and Regents e-mail UC Santa Cruz

Wait so this email, is like an early acceptance?

I got it too. What majors did you all apply for?

@AndromedaSaysHi I am a Bioengineering major, You :slight_smile:

@Pyrohair17 Astrophysics :)

How long are our answers supposed to be?

I’m wondering that myself…and if I’m replying @cantooo from last year’s post, I’m sorry.
I think I’m going to write stuff about my enthusiasm and how I participated in clubs at my school and I will put time and devotion into activities at UCSC.

I ended up making each answer approximately 200 words for both questions which were:

On your admissions application, you indicated that you would like to pursue a specific major or majors. Please tell us why you are interested in the major or majors. If you are undecided, please describe your broad academic interest(s).

Please describe what you will bring to the FYHP or the campus.

For future reference.

I received this email too and filled out the application. Now I am wondering when we will actually know about their decision… Did someone have any info about this in their acceptance letters that were released last night?

My son was invited to apply back in Feb, but his admission decision did not mentioned Honors program.
So I was wondering the same. Does it mean he was not selected or Honors decision is separate?

Nothing in my D14’s portal about this either.

Same situation. D invited to apply, was accepted (Yay!), no information about FYHP/Regents.

My daughter said they’d tell them by the end of March, but I’m not sure where she got that info. It’d be nice to have FYHP/Regents notice with the admission decision, but since the applications for the program were only due 2 weeks ago, I can see how they might take a little more time.

Okay, it’s good to know that the honors/regents decisions and normal decisions are probably released seperately! They could also be included in the acceptance pack that will be sent to us in about three weeks.

no info about honors/regents in my D’s portal either. She applied in Feb for both.

No info about honors/regents for me either.

FYI, I searched the College Confidential website for references to UCSC Regent Scholarships. I see that in previous years students knew of their UCSC Regents status before the end of March (e.g, Mar 25), so expect to hear in the next few weeks.

I see the Spring Yield page on the UCSC website lists a Chancellors Reception that includes FYHP and Regent Scholars on Apr 19. I know it’s a little presumptuous, but I’m going to leave that date open just in case

Wooohoo (: I just got accepted for the Regents Scholarship via email! Anyone else here?

Yes!!! Got the email at 12:46! So happy

Hey guys! Just got a Regents. Is this good news for my chances at Berkeley/UCLA, or is my happiness going to get screwed bad in the next few days?
PS: I’m an international from India, for context with regards to the applicant pool I’m from (v. competitive)
