I applied for regents and the FYHP but I got an email about the campus merit scholarship instead. I guess this means I didn’t get regents huh? /:

@stanfordmania I was asking myself that too! I’m an international from Germany… I think I will really keep my expectations for UCLA and Berkeley low though, as they are really on another level in a way

Congrats to everyone accepted! And the campus merit scholarship isn’t too bad either, so congrats on that (:

Just got the email of acceptance into the FYHP, as well as an invite earlier for the Chancellor’s reception. Maybe we will meet some of you on the 19th?!!

@PetraElise Definitely! See you there! And thanks for the advice about colleges. That was really helpful.

@PetraElise Oh, And Congratulations!!!

I got both merit and FYHP here but rejected from UCSD. Do you think I will still have a chance at UC Berkeley (I got the supplement questionnaire) and filled it out very well.

My D1 got in on the supplemental at Berkeley, so its possible!

D got the Campus Merit Scholarship ($500/year), FYHP and Chancellors Reception invitation. A little disappointed that she didn’t get the Regents with the priority registration, but it’s nice to feel wanted. She got rejected by UCD and accepted by UCSB so the choice will be UCSC+Honors vs UCSB.

This page has some info about the scholarships.

Only 50 incoming undergrads (frosh and transfers) get the Regents. 1100 undergrads get a Campus Merit. I assume that is for Frosh-Senior, so ~275 Frosh get it. The FYHP is ~100 frosh. UCSC has ~3800 frosh, so you get an idea of how special to feel with a Regents/Merit/FYHP.

My son got a Regents scholarship! Does anyone know whether an OOS student can get both the Regents and also the Deans award for OOS tuition, or can you only get one or the other?

Not to be greedy, but we are high need and had pretty much figured that SC would not be possible. He would love to go there, so now I’m wondering if we could make it work.

Oh, and we didn’t hear about FYHP. Do you automatically get into that if you get the Regents, or does no separate email mean he didn’t get into FYHP?

Honors is a separate email

Have all the Regents Scholarships been sent out already? I only got the FYHP email but not the Regents Scholarship yet. does that mean we didn’t get the scholarship?

Here is the document that explains selection of Honor students at Santa Cruz 2014. It shows that honor students have holistic score of 1-2.99
Considering that the score is based on UCLA and UCB - its an interesting indicator

@Sweetbeet I have the same question… Did you find out anything about it? And do all OOS/International students receive the undergraduate dean’s award?

Nope, I haven’t heard anything yet, guess we’ll have to wait for the financial aid package. I can’t believe they give it to everyone, otherwise why not just reduce OOS tuition? Maybe everyone with “need,” though.

We did find the FYHP email, though.

@Sweetbeet I received my admit package today and the admission letter included the following: “We are also pleased to offer you an Undergraduate Dean’s Award of $20,000 toward non-resident tuition.” I did not apply for financial aid. That’s why I was wondering if they give it to every OOS/international…

And then I also received a seperate letter informing me of the Regents today and it’s also $20,000 so I’m a bit confused now whether they can be combined or if I can only have one of them…

@movethemoon – you received a snail mail packet already, and you’re OOS? Hopefully that means D14’s will be hitting the mailbox soon! Anxiously awaiting the FA package.

Edit: I just remembered – you’re in Germany, right? So they probably mailed international first, since it takes longer to get there.

We’re in Hawaii, no snail mail yet.

Yes, I’m in Germany. That’s true. It would make sense to send them first! Yours should arrive soon too though!

I guess I’ll just wait until you get the mail as well. Iif they don’t tell you any specifics by then, I will email UCSC (:
