First year on NHS- run for office?

So I don't know about your schools, but my school only admits 11th and 12th graders into Honors Societies. I'm a current sophomore and I have been accepted to National Honors Society for 11th grade next year. My invitation to the induction ceremony states that elections will be held at the induction ceremony.

Anyways I have some really awesome ideas for my school's NHS, and I have a great passion for community service, so I want to run for an officer position.
Do you think I would be allowed to do so, and if it will be your 1st year on NHS, is it a bad idea to run for office?

go for it! If you are passionate about it, you will do fine =D
However, run for the lowest position, that way next year there is a logical progression from Secretary? to VP/Pres

Good luck!

RUN!!! I got treasurer and it’s my first year :)

Worst that could happen is losing…
