This is kind of a random question, but I was wondering what size/number of fish tanks MIT dorms generally allow. MIT is one of two schools I have found thus far which allow fish tanks larger than 25g. However, a thorough search through MITs policies yield nothing specific about the maximum volume/number allowed. So I was wondering if any student/alumni has/had an aquarium or has/had friends with aquariums and could tell me more about it, like what dorm they/you stayed in, how many tanks and of what volume do they/you have, etc. Thanks!

I’m not aware that there’s a limit, as long as you plug your tank into a power strip. A friend of mine had a pretty big fish tank all through MIT, though I don’t know what the actual size of it was. Another friend had a turtle in a large tank.

MIT dorms are pretty relaxed about what you bring, as long as you’re safe about things and don’t create a fire hazard.

Good to know, thanks!
