I am from the West Coast and was accepted to both UT-Austin and Ohio State for undergrad business. I received the Morrill Prominence Scholarship that covers 100% tuition at Ohio State. At this time it appears that UT will be about 2x the cost to attend tOSU. Is UT worth 2x + Stafford loan vs. Ohio State? I visited UT and loved it, will visit Columbus in March. McCombs is like a dream, not only due to their high ranking, but Austin was close to perfection.
I am still waiting on other schools but would like feedback on these two schools. Feedback around internships and opportunities after graduation will be great.
I went to UT Austin. My son is going to Ohio State. They are both outstanding state schools with incredibly strong alumni bases. These alumni will likely help you with opportunities throughout your future career. Both schools will have loads of companies that come to campus to recruit for both internships and full-time jobs. You can not go wrong with either decision. Personally, if my son asked this question, there is no way I would let him pass up that scholarship. Too many kids come out of school with a lot of debt . If you can avoid it, I would. It would be different if you were comparing to a school that wasn’t in the same league academically, but these are two similarly ranked schools. Best of luck.
Both schools are excellent and you cannot go wrong academically with either. My D was also from the west coast and she had as lot of choices of great B schools but went to Fisher. While at Fisher she had 3 internships, graduated a semester early and had a job that she loves lined up before graduation. With that said you are smart to visit Ohio State to see if you would like it. if you have similar or close feelings for both you should seriously look at the advantages of free tuition on yourself and your parents. If you really do not like Ohio State plan your finances carefully and go to UT Austin.
The other schools are USC, Boston College, and Georgetown. They all have something unique about them that I like. As you can probably guess, Ohio State’s free tuition put them high on my list. Most likely, I will have loans from all of those schools. It is very appealing to experience out of state undergrad with no loans. Not to mention, the Buckeye football season. I think I know the answer and I’m just resisting as I haven’t visited Columbus yet.
My parents say there is always the possibility of grad school with any of those schools.
