Stanford leads the way. Impressive showing by Wisconsin too.

Wisconsin got one, how is that impressive? By the same token, Cal State Long Beach also had an impressive showing. Brown OTOH, wow!! That’s seriously incredible. Also, Stanford shows why its the best university in the world once again.

^I think he meant to say UDubb.

^Oh gotcha, UDub getting two in one year is pretty impressive. I wonder how many Washington has in total.

I did mean Washington of course. My mistake. I agree with Stanford being incredible. It seems they do everything right. :-)

UDub is very underrated, I think. It has also been near the top in Peace Corps volunteers in recent years.

As a matter of fact, it IS impressive. [Californian goes from near-dropout to Rhodes Scholar - latimes.com](From near-dropout to Rhodes Scholar)

Many elite schools, be they public or private, groom students for the Rhodes and other fellowship programs. Here’s someone who didn’t have that kind of support network at the undergrad level, and still wowed the committee. Which just goes to show that yes, going to the great school helps…but in the end, it’s what the individual does that really counts.

Getting one Rhodes scholar is way, way more impressive than getting none, which is how many the vast majority of colleges (including many excellent ones) get in most years.

Let’s be honest here. Rhodes Scholarships are overwhelmingly the domain of the very, very top private universities. The state publics that do well, like UDub, Montana, Ole Miss, etc. are more the result of being in areas where top privates are not located. Trust me if Washington, for example, was located in the northeast it would not have anywhere near those numbers. By the way, I also agree that Udub is underrated here on CC.
