<p>so, ive been offered a spot as a posse finalist for Colby in Waterville, ME. I have to decide by wednesday. if i say yes by wed., and i get the scholarship i have to go. the scholarship covers full tuition for all 4 years. </p>
<p>so, i doubt i can visit before wednesday. ive heard its a lot like midd but i like midd a lot and for some reason colby is eh to me. i cant decide based on the website, and i think i can get into better schools, but i dont really know much about colby.</p>
<p>SO. who knows about colby?! enlighten me and dont be neutral, either hate it or love it. colby would be my safety in terms of RD. meaning, full tuition at a safety. </p>
<p>my other colleges are: uchicago EA, vassar, middlebury, macalester, etc.</p>
<p>I know several friends of mine who got accepted into Colby through POSSE. They tell me they like it there, yet the winters are very cold (what you would expect in Maine). I wish I could say more about the school, yet I do believe that the University of Chicago, Middlebury, and Vassar are better. In my opinion, wait out for the University of Chicago and Middlebury. I wouldn't restrict myself to Colby, although the full tuition is a nice deal. </p>
<p>Have you visited any of the colleges yet? If Colby is where you really want to go, then you should accept the POSSE scholarship and go. If not, wait it out and visit the other schools so that you can tell before hand where it is that you would really like to spend the next four years of your life at. Just my two cents.</p>
<p>I'd second minorityman's opinion. If there are other schools you like better, don't lock yourself into Colby.</p>
<p>I like Colby. They were friendlier and more approachable than Macalester and Vassar. So much so, I took Vassar and Macalester off my list of schools and kept Colby on my list. I do like UChicago a lot, by the way.</p>

<p>I know a couple who met at Colby. They are in their mid-30's now, so not recent info, but they really loved it there (one from CAlif, one from N.H.). She went because of the high admit rate to med school and is an M.D. now--she said she got to do lots of research there. He got to edit a book written by a prof who went on to win Pulitzer. They felt there was incredible opportunities they wouldn't have at larger schools. They said not much happening in town, the school is your social life entirely. But she said many ppl go off to Boston on the weekend and it's easy to catch a ride or a bus. She had friends there and went several times a semester.</p>
<p>If my dd had your choice (and she is EA to UChi), I'd send her to this school because of the full tuition and I wouldn't have any second thoughts about it.</p>
<p>I'd go for it if I were you. Colby's a great place, and it has a beautiful campus. I know several kids who've gone there, and all are very happy with their choice. Plus, how can you turn down a full scholarship?</p>
