Flexibility in Major?

Hi, I am a prospective applicant to the University of Toronto (and Waterloo, McMaster as well).
While, I have decided to apply for Chemical Engineering; I am, as of now, unsure of what I wish to do in my under graduation.

So, is the University of Toronto academically flexible; can I change my major once I'm there and decide that Chemical Engineering is not for me?
If yes, is this major-flexibility interdepartmental or intra; i.e could I change my major to Biology/Environmental Sciences or am I restricted to one of the Engineering majors?

If you know anything about the other two schools, please do tell me about that as well.
Thanks!!

-An international applicant who doesn't know what he wants to do with life (yet).

…Anyone?

Sorry I wont be to useful but maybe I can try and help.

In Canadian Universities you don’t necessarily need to know what major you want to concentrate on going in. You can go into a field of study. For example, you sound like you’re really interested in science, so you can go into the field of science. If you decide for sure you want to be a Chemical Engineer your transition would be really smooth because you’re already taking sciences.

Did that make any sense?

Like for me I think I want to be a financial analysts, but I’m not 100% sure so I’m going to go into the mathematics field.

Good luck on UofT!! And all your other choices :]

Thanks a lot.
Is this applicable to shifting from engineering to humanities as well?
All the very best to you as well !! :-)

As far as I know, yes. But don’t quote me on it, because I’m not positive. But yeah, as far as I know, yes.
