I will be flying to visit several colleges this summer, but I'm afraid that there might be chance for terrorists on the plane. Honestly, I always have this feeling whenever I flight, but now after Bin Laden's death, the fear heightened. Is it really safe flying these days?

You are far more likely to die in a car accident; around 25,000 people in the US do so each year. Terrorist attacks on airplanes are exceedingly rare, and there is now security out the ass. So you’re fine; there is literally a larger threat to airplane safety from flocks of geese than from terrorist attacks.

What about the chance of planes’ dysfunction. It has been very conspicuous in the news…

Very unlikely, and far less likely than a car accident.

If you’re really afraid, take a train, but no course of action is without danger.

You’ll be fine. Thousands of people fly every day, and the overwhelmingly vast majority live to tell the tale.

Like BillyMc said, you have a much higher probability of dying in a car crash than in a plane accident.

Well you get into a car nearly everyday, right? And you’ve survived each ride right?? Well think of the airplane as a very large car and you’re just taking a ride across the country.
