flight plans this summer? fears...

so this summer, im going to be visiting relatives. and i looked online. there's literally no place i could find the NEW safety procedures since 9/11, that are in place during the flight.

i mean, what would happen if hijackers were to attack during the flight? is the cockpit locked during the entire flight? i heard it was locked before 9/11 as well, then how could the hiijackers get in then? also, do flight attendants have stun guns? if not, how are we supposed to resist knives or pepper spray? and finally, in the past, the hiijackers literally broke the lock on the cockpit, after scaring the passengers with knives. so now, shouldn't there be some kind of unbreakable barrier on the cockpit? and shouldn't flight attendants be trained in tae kwon do or something?

*** is wrong with bush, he spent so much of our tax dollars on the security commission, and we're still not getting any answers or promises....

i havent flown since 9/11.... :[ depressed i dont wanna die.....

it what(or who) you can't see that keeps you safe

If you were put on a random flight the September 11, 2001 or put in a random car the same day, for the same distance, you would be safer on the plane.

to add to that. 30,000 commercial flights per day in the US alone, think about how many hijackings there have been...

taking a random flight every day, it would take 22,000 years before you would be in an accident

statistics don't mean safety.
i wanna know what procedures they have in place? is the cockpit locked the whole time, cuz it better be. all i wanna know is that the door of the cockpit is locked for the whole flight and no one can get in.

and they should stop letting little kids "see the cockpit." our govt is so wasteful and inefficient...

If it helps...keep a glove, a disable camera and some wire on hand at all times...

Either that or forget about it and read about.

anyway if anything happens i will fight to the death. and i took tae kwon do classes last year. my friends, going on the flight, have also requested info about what to do in case of a hijacking, and we've researhed new govt protocols.

i believe its everyones responsibility to be informed about airplane safety...and post 9/11, after hearing the tape from attendant Ong, who couldnt rush into the cockpit door, i believe that passengers today will not just sit there and take it. a resistant passenger force, theres usually like 200-300 passengers, is the best defense on airplanes. i will do sumthin brave

So I was off on my stats, but you really have nothing to worry about.

Is this thread a joke?

uh, NO! wat r u trying to say huh?

hmm y didnt u fly since then??? GOSH U shouldve felt fine afterwards...guess who flew a month after 9/11 a lone...me! and it was the weekend there was a big accidental crash meaning no terroism..right near my local airport...i flew to boston from Marine Air terminal...to my sisters college and i felt very safe..the flight was mostly full too..
i'm a heavy traveler i would have felt strange if i didnt make my yearly trip to Laguna, CA which is on the other side of the country..

thx...well anyways im just gonna fight if anything happens.

"If it helps...keep a glove, a disable camera and some wire on hand at all times...

Either that or forget about it and read about."

I'm pretty sure YOU would look like a terrorist if you brought that on the plane. Anyways, another one will most likely not happen for a while, and like the others have said, there are so many flights that there is really nothing to worry about. I'm pretty sure that you're still safer in a plane than in a car.

andersenws

I'm pretty sure the people who check you and your carry on take away any nonfunctioning electronic devices.
That's why they test your laptop before you bring it on board.

lol...sarcasm...Do I need to use the sarcasm tags?

Theres a better chance of you dying on the car ride to the airport, than the actual flight itself.

www.tsa.gov

They have upped security a ton since September 11th. There are some things that are not widely publicized that they do as well, but even the visible security is very tight. Seriously, if you've been plauged by this much anxiety for the past six years, I would suggest seeing a therapist before your flight. Just trust us, you'll be fine.

I flew to Spain about 2 weeks after 9/11. And I've flown many times since. Including a flight out of London three days after the big terrorism scare over there last August. I wasn't scared; just miffed that I had to buy reading material in the terminal and carry my Kotex in a clear plastic baggie.

I'm flying to Spain again this July. It had never occurred to me to be worried about getting killed in a hijacking. Life's too short to be paranoid. :p

Suck it up and just do it.

guys, don't be such jerks. 9/11 was a horrible tragedy, and people shouldn't be "lol"ing at fears
