Flip flops in NYU?

I know this may sound irrelevant but do many NYU students wear flip flops when they go to classes etc. Or is it considered too "primitive" lol

Leather flip flops = yes!
Crocs flip flops = no!
Old Navy $2 flip flops = no!

PS: Don’t wear flip flops. Your feet will be BLACK from the dirt on the sidewalks. You’re welcome.

It’s not considered primitive, but it’s not looked kindly upon. Follow missamericanpie’s advice; it’s pretty much correct.

Ewwww flip flops. I’m sticking to dressing well everyday, as though I’m going to an interview. I tend to look a lot older when I dress up which is good for nightlife.

I supervise you do the same.

I wear flip flops all the time, who cares when its 8 am and you are already late for class.

What’s wrong with flip flops?

Besides the aforementioned “dirty feet” thing, I find that it’s not really a fashion thing- it’s a practicality thing. Walking around as much as we do, I find that Old Navy and Croc flip flops just aren’t comfortable and tend to fall apart way too quickly. Leather flip flops, even AE or Abercrombie leather flip flops, tend to hold up better against the sidewalks.

I hate flip-flops… I love being high!!!

Hmm so what do people actually wear then?

You are going to need everything, from the foot high snow piles to the blazing 100 degree summer days.

I’m from CA, and wore my rainbows all the time, even in bad weather. I also owned timberland waterproof shoes (the boot things). Those are pretty standard here, even though they were considered ghetto back west. They really help out a lot. Plenty of people dress to the 9’s the first 3 weeks of school, then once the year progresses, people start partying on weeknights and are too hungover to care what they look like. Flip flops are fine. Other shoes that were popular were Sperry’s, which are more of an all weather type shoe.

Flip flops rule.

It seems like you are also trying to act older than you are in your writing because it makes no sense to “supervise” someone’s footwear choices.

People give NYU students too much credit for being “fashionable.” Yes, there are girls who dress up like they’re the newest addition to the Gossip Girl cast, but believe it or not, there are A LOT of real-life, normal people at NYU.

Wear flip flops if you want to. A lot of people do. I do.

^ Someone’s angry about getting kicked out of a fraternity for not dressing well enough…LOL

I wore flip flops during orientation and my feet DID get extremely dirty by the end of each day haha so this point is pretty legitimate as I have realized

I’ve lived in NY my whole life, and dont think twice about wearing flip flops when I go into Manhattan…feet can be washed, its better than being uncomfortably hot in socks, or in pain when your traveling around in heels. I wear heels all the time, but when your going out to a bunch of different places on a Friday night, it gets painful (and I would imagine that if you arent used to the subways, it would be very difficult to get used to them in heels!).
