My friend and I randomly thought of this...

Since Cornell is so huge and hilly, do girls ever where heels? What do they wear all year?

Since Cornell is so huge and hilly, do girls ever where heels? What do they wear all year?

Come on now.......it is Cornell, they all go bear footed in summer and rubber boots all winter...and for the most part it is all winter in Ithaca right? hehehe

louboutin heels, mostly.

there's a lot of sneakers all over campus, for both guys and girls. In the winter you'll see more boots that help keep water out and feet dry. I've only seen heels being worn for special events and such.

while alot of girls do wear uggs, you can find suede boots with rubber soles that are not as uggly - and those are great for the few months when it actually snows...the rest of the year when it is 72 degrees and sunny the girls wear flip flops just like the rest of the US. my d has worn out several pairs of ballet flats also

ah, yes, i forgot to mention flip flops. They're all over.

You mean they wear flip flop earrings too? Who knew? Just kidding.

I love heels...wore them all the time except for the days when we had flip flop weather and when it was icy or slushy.

Rain boots are a must also - preferrably fashionable ones - it's always raining in Ithaca when it's not snowing. My daughter wears a lot of flats, no sneakers. She wears lined boots when it's really cold, or leather knee high boots with jeans or skirts. She'll carry shoes in her large handbag to change into when she is going out.

This is what Ithaca weather usually says (can substitute rain for snow):

Partial cloudy, with a chance of snow.
Sunny, with a chance of snow.
Cloudy, with a chance of snow.
Snowing, with a chance of snow.

I bought her a pair of water proof boots that would withstand 30 below 0 temperature - oh, it's ugly, I would never wear it - in Aug. Then I got - oh, thank-you so much, I don't know what I would have done the boots - in Feb.

^^ haha and when we dont know how to classify what its doing, we simply describe the weather as "ithacating"

They wear high heels in the winter, especially when they go to random frat parties.

i bought a pair of amazing equestrian style boots.. do people wear those? it is supposedly waterproof, but i haven't had a chance to test that claim.. would it be enough to survive the ithaca winter with?

We wear anything. Me, I like to save the heels for a "good" party that it's worth wearing to.(But I still keep flats or flip flops in a bag) To class I do not wear anything uncomfortable but that's just b/c i walk ridiculously fast. U have a bus pass so u may not have to worry about that...

Flip flops, flats, or boots to class. I usually wear heels when I go out. I've seen a few crazy masochists wearing 4 inch heels on the way to class, but I don't recommend it.

oh...so you've seen me walking around campus?? :-P

i love heels and im really good at wearing them in all conditions....that being said, i rarely (emphasis on rarely) wore them to class. and the times i wore them out to parties were some rough walks. call me shallow but not being able to comfortably wear heels was a big downside of cornell for me lol

you just have to pregame until your feet stop hurting
