I know the FLL is part of the college, but I was wondering if it is easier/harder to be accepted into the college if you checked off FLL as your choice?
Thanks!

I really hope it is too! I applied as a Linguistics major and I can’t wait for my letter, what did you apply as?

French major, although I love Linguistics
EA, right? Where do you live?

I live on Long Island, so hopefully the competition won’t kill me! And yeah I applied EA too, I actually wrote my essay on teaching myself French, I love it! (although I prefer spanish :)

Spanish was my first language, but I definitely prefer French.
By the way, Harry Potter reference in your username, or am I imagining it?

Haha no, my username is just a reference to my name, although I am a fan of Harry potter!

And I’m in ap Spanish and French right now, but let’s just say I feel much more confident about the Spanish haha.

Ah I’m dying from the anxiety, hopefully the fact that there aren’t a lot of linguistics majors at gtown will help me! Best of luck to all FLL applicants too!!

ah i’m literally stalking cc right now seeing if anyone near me got their letter- i’m from LI too
italian major, and i wrote part of my essay on teaching myself french and spanish… good luck everyone!!

griffonr, how did you find out that there aren’t many linguistics majors?

I sent someone on here a PM about the FLL and linguistics (he applied as a ling. major) and he told me that there weren’t many at gtown.

And I’m starting to feel the competition, it looks like we’ve all taught ourselves languages!

I really hope it doesn’t all boil down to GPA’s, because some of my science and math classes have been B’s, and I would really hate for that to ruin my chances in a program that has nothing to do with them.

I feel the same way! I got a B and a C in math and chemistry sophomore year, so I realllly hope they look primarily at our grades in foreign languages.

ughh I can’t wait until Tuesday!

I wish there were actual statistics detailing the admission rates for the FLL

I’m honestly surprised that there aren’t…

I wonder if the general consensus is if the FLL is easier or harder to get into? I guess that would depend on how many students they accept, but who knows.

I’ve heard harder =/
But I wonder if it’s easier if you have an obvious passion for languages? Idkkkk

I applied to FLL as a linguistics major…in spite of the fact that I’ve heard that the FLL is difficult to get into.

I’m hoping my love for languages gets me in, though!

I’m really hoping a demonstrated love for languages helps…my personal essay was about teaching myself french, my “why FLL” essay was about my life and georgetown, and my activity essay was about study abroad!

Hopefully they can realize how much we all love languages and look over a blemish or two.

I’ve heard it’s easier… they also have lower stats (not to say that’s indicative of anything)

Really? Is that just word of mouth, or do they post the incoming stats somewhere?
