Hello,

Daughter is freshman coming in Fall. Room assignments just came out. Wondering if we can see a floor plan of her room in Balch Hall? Even to get a size would be great.

Thanks,

Hello,

Thanks,

I can’t help you, sorry, but if anyone has a floor plan of Mary Donlon Hall as well, that’d be great.

Also, I hear that’s the loud/party dorm, will I be miserable there if I’m a quiet person who has little interest in drinking or excessive partying?

kbtb58-For student safety reasons I dont think they release floor plans except in the spring to help students decide on rooms for the next year. I lived in Balch last year. Do you know your daughters room number?

CornellU-hi! I’m going to be living in Balch next year in room 5323. Would you happen to know anything about it? specifically, im in a triple, and I’m worried that it’s going to be a forced triple and not an actual room built for 3 >.> thank you!

Here’s a link to the Residence halls for Balch Hall

they have panorama quicktime view of the rooms, but no measurements per se.
Maybe this will give you an idea of the size.

When I visited Mary Donlon in April, the study hall on the first floor was quiet and there were lots of students using it. this was at 9pm at night. but it was a Tuesday nite.

Hi CornellU2016, Her room number is 4434. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

@firecy I wouldn’t worry too much. While Donlon is known as the party dorm, it’s very big. Along with the excessive partiers, you’ll find the occasional partiers and even the ones that never party at all. You should be fine. (:

From my experience though, it does get a bit loud at nights though compared to other dorms. (Especially when people are getting ready to leave for parties.) I lived in a different dorm freshman year, but I spent a ridiculous amount of time in Donlon because all of my friends lived there.

Can anyone tell me what will be the rooms ( room numbers ) just opposite to my room in Mary Donlon Hall…

My room number is #19

@123456A – Donlon is in the shape of a concave triangle with three long halls on each floor that merge into ‘spikes’ at each corner. So the rooms near the ends of the spikes have other dorm rooms opposite them, while the rooms near the center of each side tend to be opposite common space (bathroom/lounge/kitchen etc.)

My son’s room in Donlon was #17 and was where the two halls of one ‘spike’ came together … so the hall was especially wide in that area but there was a room directly across from him. The rooms further down the spike (toward the corner of the building) had dorm rooms directly across whereas the rooms next to him away from the spike were opposite one of the bathrooms and more towards the center a connecting hallway and kitchen/lounge.

Sorry but I don’t know which way the numbering went (if #19 is towards spike or center from #17) BUT assuming numbering is consistent on all the floors and that #19 is either side of #17 – then #19 would be on the northwest side of the building overlooking the Driveway/Donlon Loop and closer to the Purcell Center than to Dickson. . .
