Florida Hurricane!

I'm applying early Decision to Cornell, and although I gave my teachers and counselor the recommendation forms early this year (and have sent in all other required materials), one of the teachers and the counselor has not sent them (for nov. 1st deadline). Because of the hurricane that just went through, most of south Florida is out of power (I am running on my dad's work's generator), and since school is out all this week I have no way to contact my teachers...does anyone know if an extension will be given to Florida applicants?, or what has been done in situations like this in the past.

As long as your part of the app is in you are fine. Why your GC and teacher didn't do their part who knows.......your application will be reviewed when the other materials are received and in this case they might have to fax the materials.....which is fine.

Usually under such situations, extensions are given to applicants in areas affectd by hurricanes. Contact Cornell to find out about their policy.
