Florida State University/ FSU Accepted Rejected Class of 2024

Congratulations @gilliangrace !

thank you!! @tnknes

Received packet in Philadelphia suburb today.
Curious if anyone accepted for Summer session received OOS tuition waiver or scholarship.

If you have been accepted be sure to check the financial aid on your portal. We were surprised and pleased to see that my daughter was given a grant.

how do we see this? the FSU portal we use with the FSUID is confusing

@gilliangrace , my daughter isn’t at home to talk me through the steps, but from what I recall, go to the portal using the FSUID and then there is a “my finances” tab. Not sure what happened after that, but there was a link of some sort showing 2020-2021 financial aid that was in that section of the portal.

OOS received packet today! Does anyone know approximately how many students are accepted into the honors program each year?

@BruinsFan4 - I read somewhere it was approximately 400. I don’t know if that includes auto admits. Would like to know how many apply to the program and how many are auto. It appears to be a very selective process.

@CUsucceed someone my son knows is doing his Freshman year at the program in Spain and seems to love it. I have to say it seems like an awesome program. I wish my son was more adventurous as I dont think he would want to miss out on his whole Freshman year. If i were a student again I would definitely take this on.

Packet came in mail yesterday- NY.

Still waiting for the packet in VA. I can’t believe this 'Cane mom and Gator dad want FSU swag in our house, but I’m excited for my son! Lol.

Why would the counselor be filling out or changing the SSAR? The name itself is literally “self” reported. I have never heard of a counselor completing the SSAR or even having access to a student’s SSAR. They would have to have your ID and password for that. Since it’s supposed to be self reported, I would say that the student is responsible for any errors that are present.

Why would the HS counselor be updating or changing the SSAR? It literally means “self” reported. I have never heard of a counselor touching a students SSAR. In order to do that they would have to have the students ID and password. Either way, since it’s supposed to be self reported it would seem that the student would be responsible for the accuracy of the information.

i kind of wish counselors would help students in filling out the SSAR so a third-party could confirm all the information is accurate. i filled out my SSAR incorrectly so before i was accepted for fall 2020, they had initially accepted me for spring 2021 bc my grades looked way worse than they were. it’s not fair to assume it should ALL lay upon the responsibility of the student, who’s making a big, life-changing decision.

To be fair, I honestly feel like a competitive applicant with the accompanying high stats SHOULD be able to follow the directions, fill it out properly, and be capable of reaching out to ask the university staff questions if necessary.

It seems like it could actually be used as a tool to weed out applicants, considering the numbers they had this year. I’m a little surprised they would grant an appeal based on incorrectly filling out their application. Luckily for you though, they did!

I wanted to come back and give an update regarding my daughter who was initially rejected. I’m happy to report she was offered Pathways this morning. It’s not what she hoped for originally but now she’s THRILLED.

I do want to give some insight to future Motion Picture Arts kids who apply and don’t get in. According to the admissions officer, who my husband worked with to have our daughter get a second look, the student’s application does get rejected to the university when they get rejected to the College of Motion Picture Arts. We were told at the tour of CMPA that your application doesn’t get kicked out but that’s not the case.

My daughter had to change her major to something she’ll be happy to pursue if CMPA doesn’t work out when she reapplies next fall. The admissions officer was a dream to work with and so happy they realized what an asset she’ll be to FSU. Gillian will attend TCC for one semester and transfer in spring 2021.

Thanks to everyone who gave us well wishes and so happy it worked out!

I was accepted to FSU business school (Finance). I am wondering if anyone knows how good of a program this is? According to Niche, FSU finance and accounting is #17, but that is the only high ranking i see online. Looking to make it down to florida and tour the school in April.

I completely agree which is why I am was shocked that someone stated that their HS counselor completed or made changes to their SSAR. That doesn’t exactly make it “self” reported. Asking questions and getting assistance is one thing, but something that is supposed to be self reported should be just that…

Girls from my school got into Vanderbilt and not FSU. What a shame

@newjerseysenior for FSU last yr OOS acceptance was 19%, probably lower this yr. I still don’t know how I was accepted, rejected from OSU, UMD, UGA, got 2+2 at PSU, and waitlisted @ Clemson… It’s a weird process and very unpredictable.
