I found out today that I was accepted for FSU summer term and I was extremely disappointed. The summer term apparently has lower requirements so they do not let you change to the fall term. Also, the summer term starts much too early to be convenient for me as I would have less than a month to transition and I don’t feel that is enough time, especially because I live out of state. This was also a bit of a slap in the face considering I have a 30 ACT and a 4.7 GPA on a 5.0 scale. I have taken at least 15 honors and AP courses and have no D’s or F’s on my transcript yet the sumner term is for applicants who aren’t accepted into the regular term. I was even considering applying to the honors program but obviously that isn’t an option considering I can’t even make it into the regular fall semester. Can someone explain to me why I did not make it in to the regular semester even though I meet the higher end of FSU’s requirements? Does it have anyhring to do with the fact that I am an out of state applicant?
My younger sister was also accepted to the summer term and is from out of state as well- she wasn’t aware this was an option for acceptance so was disappointed as well. She still plans on attending and is going to go early because she is out of state. However her grades were more around a 3.6/26. From the looks of your grades it sounds like they may often due summer term acceptance for out of state students!?
The summer is not necessarily for those with lower requirements. It just ends up that way because most competitive people(if you look at your friends for example) apply to fall. They can’t accept everyone to fall so some people get accepted to summer. Don’t be disappointed at all, because it has nothing to do with your stats. Also, out of state might be an influence because they might prefer that you get acclimated to the area earlier? My guess is that they’ve had a very competitive semester. And definitely apply to honors, you will get in. Remember universities have a middle range for a reason, people have to be below, in the middle, and above
Maybe you applied to summer on accident? I don’t think there is a valid reason for you to be in the summer because your stats are above their fall middle 50 the only other explanation was that you’re out of state and they fall preference to in state
