I'm looking to take a class on FLVS next year. If it makes a difference, I'm out of state and thus will be coughing up $400, it will be my senior year, it will probably by AP Psych, and I've taken an online AP class before (AP Euro through Virtual Virginia.)

The important stuff:

How self-paced is FLVS? I'm probably going to be at a program this summer until mid-late July, but from then until the second week of September, I don't have a whole lot to work on. Would FLVS allow me to start the class then, get the bulk of it done before September, and have it all done by November-ish? Before anyone says I'm insane, I'm doing AP Euro online in 3.5 months (actually 5, but the last 2.5 months are just stupid post-AP test "enrichment activities" or whatever) and am doing pretty well. So I know I can do it, it is just a matter of whether FLVS will let me. That's the whole reason why I'm trying to go through them and not Virtual Virginia again-you can't self-pace VV, no exceptions. I can go back and study for the AP exam.

The website said something about not giving credit for AP courses until after taking the AP course in May. Does that mean I wouldn't be able to get a transcript of my grade in the class to send to colleges before apps are due in? Because that would be kind of cruddy and may deter me from doing it.

I'm not really interested in self-studying, so it is this or nothing, probably.

1) VERY self-paced. AP Psychology is two modules with around 35 assignments each for a total of 70 assignments. They recommend an average of an hour per assignment-- But they can be done in like 10-20 usually except for tests.

2) That’s what they’re supposed to do-- If you don’t take the AP test they threaten to demote the course to Honors. They don’t follow up on it. You get the AP credit even before taking the test.

^Cool. So, say if I finish the first or second week of October, I could at least have proof that I took the class and got an A (I hope. Ha ha.) by November for early college apps?

And just considering all my options (though I’m 99% positive it will by Psych and only that due to my interests and funding): How are APES, Micro, and Macro on there?

You could start it over the summer if you wanted to. That’s what I’m doing. And yeah, you could, but you really have to bug them to get them to mail the transcript to your school. They’re really forgetful…

I took Macro and am taking Micro right now. They really are jokes in my opinion. You can re-take any test and re-do any assignment… You would have to not care at all to not get an ‘A’… But make sure you request Brenda Peterson as your teacher. Easy grader and very helpful.

The tests can get somewhat difficult if you haven’t actually studied for the them, but you can always re-take them. Also, the graphing assignments can be a real pain if you want to be meticulous about them, but if you have Peterson she will always give you full points as long as you do something somewhat pertinent to the topic.

Not sure about APES, but it’s probably similar.

@Saugus- Do you think it’s safe if I enroll in an AP class when I’m not sure if I’ll take the AP exam? I don’t want to do it if I don’t feel prepared, but I’m worried that they could demote the course to honors if I don’t take it. How likely would they follow up on that rule of theirs?
&,typically, how easy an A are the AP courses?
