How is the food / dining options at JHU, I hear that its not so good but I'd live actual student opinions of the matter.

The food and the dining facilities are much improved the last two years. For many years, Hopkins had a well deserved reputation for having some of the worst college food. While it is still college food (and college students love to complaint about college food), it is far far better than it used to be.

Agreed. I was just there last week and ate in the freshman cafeteria. Admittedly, it tasted like it was made to be consumed in mass quantities, but it was pretty good. Probably the type of stuff you'd get tired of eating in a few months, but it's definitely edible.

You may also want to search Food at Hopkins, as there have been a number of CC threads dedicated to the topic in the past.

The food in general is good. They have no problem with variety. My honest opinion is that sometimes the food doesn't taste real, like the chicken for example. It has no chicken taste to it, its not cooked well enough with seasoning and taste wet and slippery with no chicken taste to it.

Variety is good, they ALWAYS have friggin fries, hot dogs, and burgers. GREAT variety of Pizza, love that.

ALWAYS have eggs, sausages, and potatos. Food here is good, it has improved, but I still despise eating there. If I had the choice, I would eat out half the time and eat at FFC the other half. Eitherway, It is expensive and wasting my meal plan.

could anyone please explain what are dining dollars and how much r they worth?

thanks

Dining dollars are the campus dining currenty. As part of the freshman Meal Plans, you get a number of buffet meals per week (at the Fresh Food Cafe) as well as a number of Dining Dollars, which you can spend at any of the dining locations on campus (FFC, Nolan's dining hall in Charles Commons, Levering food court, Einstein Brother Bagels, Charles Street Market (mini-market type place) and Pura Vida Coffee)

each dining dollar costs $1.30 regular dollars, freshmen are forced to purchase the 14 or 19 meal week plan while sophomores must buy dining dollars, every plan offered by dining services is a rip off, its cheaper to pay for everything with cash
