Food at summer seminar?

My daughter has been accepted to AFA summer seminar. She is wondering what kind of meals to expect. More specifially, she’s wondering what is the primary source of protein? Is it beef, pork, chicken, or turkey?

They will be eating at Mitchell Hall in what they call family style dinning. The food will depend on the day, but they will probably have things like Calzones (a favorite of my cadet), Things made with ground beef are popular because they keep cost down. I am sure a lot of the recent attendees will sound off later in the day with the rest of the menu.

We had chicken one night, calzones, lunch meat for sandwiches, etc... no single source of protein.

I was recently in a briefing from the Mitchell Hall nutritionist, and she told us that the main source of protein is usually chicken at Mitchell hall, and it's a fact that chicken is the most served meat. However, there are other sources, like beans and rice or beef. (Tex-mex, calzones, meatball subs, hamburgers, etc.)

They're getting rid of most pork because of the issues a significant number of cadets have with eating it, and I can only think of a couple meals with turkey (turkey sandwiches, "turkey" schwarmas/gyros).

she also showed us how to eat healthy at mitch's, but it required not eating anything basically... haha

ok, not rly, but it doesn't let me have my 3 dove bars at lunch...

haha its like down here, they want us to eat healthy but really only have one healthy thing on the menu and its nasty as he..ck

Is the food at the P worse than up on the Hill, Cad?

But really, the food isn't too bad here. Trust me, I've had FAR worse at some other Universities. It may not be a 5-star meal here, but it's decent.

It's a lot better than last year!

We got greenish ham for breakfast, once.
Another time we asked what the meal was. The server took a long stare at it, then replied, "...I'm not sure."

ehh it has its good days and bad, i honestly heard that the food down here is a little better than up there but then again ive heard the opposite. The one time i ate lunch at Mitch's i thought it was better than what we usually get here, but i won't be fully sure about it til this summer hehe

Son loved the food at last year's summer seminar, except for the MRE he had to eat one day. While everyone else had MRE fajitas, roast beef, stew, etc he had a watery omelette! Luck of the draw. He still has the miniature tobasco sauce that came with it!

You gotta stay away from the breakfast MREs!

aw man i love MREs; during the hurricane that's all i had for 2 weeks and started gettin close to em :)

I am completely convinced that cadets are composed of chicken and gatorade. Learn to love it.

I always got stuck with the omlette MRE in JAck's! It wasn't too bad though because in the girls tent we would just put all the food from the MREs on one cot and people would pick and choose and mix and match. So half the time I ended up with spicy rice and peanut butter crackers and some M&Ms. :) Good times.
