Food / gym at NYU

Honestly, how is the food at NYU? From a healthy perspective... are there options if you kind of don't want to gain massive amounts of weight? On a similar note, do all students have access to the gym? Is it nice? Is it nearby? Thanks.

First of all, drums aren't for girls. Especially those big african drums that you can drum your heart out to. You need manly hands for that.

Second, the food is edible. You're not gonna be having cravings for NYU food during the middle of the night, so that rules out the gaining weight thing. You'll hear a lot of students signing up for the cheapest meal plans here, so take from that what you will.

The gym is open to all students. It is nice, yes. (Actually there are two I've been to: Palladium and Coles) I didn't prefer either, but they both get the job done. Assuming you're a freshman, the palladium gym will be a minute walk from UHall or otherwise a 5 minute - 10 minute walk from others. However, I tend to plod along at my own pace, so you can shave off a couple of minutes from my estimate. Coles is about the same distance in the other direction - south.

that's funny. i played the african drums a few times this year in my african dance class. and one of our accompianists is a girl as well. stupid and pointless quasi-macho-man-comments aside...

the dorms always have the option of a salad bar if you're afraid of eating anything too greasy (though that can be tiring quickly). they also have vegetables regularly, and many meals can be prepared to order (in Palladium and Kimmel especially).

Actually, the NYU food is pretty good. I've eaten at other places, and... well. Definitely try the Restaurant Nights or whatever they're called.

i like seafood night at Rubin a lot (on Fridays)
