With a total of eight close family members and two brothers currently attending The University Of Florida and from many visits to Gainesville, I always wondered why the food on campus is so mundane and for such a small city the variety of eateries surrounding the school is so extensive. Whats up with on-campus dinning ? Am I missing something ? Are there any special places on campus that serves half-way decent food ?
Here is my PARTIAL list of eateries surround the school- Please add your favorites !

Satchels, bento, moes, liquid ginger, the top, tijuana flats, gators dockside. those are off the top of my head tho so i’m sure there are tons more.

there aren’t any particularly quirky, sit down places no, but i think its easy to understand why. it costs a lot of money to set up shop in the union or one of the other venues, and UF/aramark would be stupid to give some local a shot at starting their own restaraunt when they could just set up franchises of proven brands like subway and moes (see: the cheeburger failure). another thing to keep in mind: the vast majority of customers are just looking for some fast food. arrandondo’s cafe has some nice stuff occasionally to cater to faculty and connoisseurs, but everyone else just wants to go to class, study, then go home.

but there is a firehouse last time i checked, and its not like many of the places are any more gourmet than moes or firehouse subs.

tijuana flats is amamamamzzzziiinngggg
