Food

Well, this is strange but The Daily Meal ranks UR as 6th best. Strange because food is usually described here as ok but ... so I guess this puts it into the perspective that college food generally is what it is.
And here is the text from the UR slide at Daily Meal:

"6. University of Rochester, Rochester, NY
Ever wondered what it would be like to live in Rochester? Well according to Yelp, it would be pretty darn delicious. University of Rochester had the second-highest Yelp rating of the whole bunch, but what really catapulted it to the front of the pack was all the efforts the dining program makes to be as sustainable, delicious, and just fun as it can be. Team Green is the team of student interns employed by the dining services whose sole purpose is to promote sustainability while dining, and on top of that, over 48 percent of all the ingredients served on campus are grown, raised, or wholly manufactured within New York state. In fact, University of Rochester has been named a Most Vegan Friendly University by PETA2 for three years and counting. Campus events include Meatless Mondays, D’Lions Dinner, the Chef Challenge, and the ever-popular Local Foods Week. But if you ever go to the University of Rochester, you have to get a Garbage Plate. It may sound odd, but we assure you that is delicious. You get a choice of two sides, choosing from macaroni salad, baked beans, home fries, or French fries, and then choose either two burgers, two hot dogs (or other protein options). Now imagine all of that piled together with meaty hot sauce, onions, and mustard, and you have a Garbage Plate. And students go crazy for it.""

Glad to see it and it matches my thoughts of UR’s food - meaning not NEARLY as bad as others have mentioned compared to many other colleges we’ve eaten at.

Thanks for posting!

From what my son says this ranking never says it’s the best tasting.
