I would like to attend every home football game and I like the assurance of being guaranteed a ticket to all of the games, however since I don't know many people at UT I don't have a group of people who I would like to sit with. I know I can't be the only person in this situation....so what are my other options? I'm sure I'll make friends with people I want to go to games with over the school year but if I get a season ticket will I not be able to sit with them? Should I just not get season tickets my freshman year and wait until next year or should I get a single ticket? Idk what to do! Help!

If you get a LASP and are willing to get in line on Monday mornings at 7:00am, that’s not a bad option. That way, you can make some friends during your first couple weeks at school, and then you can get tickets with them.

If you meet some people at orientation you can ask if they want to make a seating group. Surely there’s a facebook group for class of 2015 (someone makes an “official” one each year) so you can post a discussion on there, or message any UT people you’ve already met on facebook. Some people just go with the LASP and meet people in line as soadquake mentioned, but I personally don’t like waiting in line in the mornings when I might have class or would just rather sleep.

For freshmen, it doesn’t matter so much anyway because since yall have last priority, you get the seats at the top of the stadium where they don’t check your ticket so you can move around as much as you want up there.

^^^this is true…My D did a seating group with some friends from her high school. They sat together at the first game and then never did again…they had all met other people that they wanted to sit with and had no problem moving around…of course thier seats were in the VERY top and nobody checks those seats. I would join the facebook group for your class if you havent already and post a wall message about football seating groups. I am certain there are other people that are in your exact position.

I’m in the same boat. I guess I will just have no group and find some people to sit by.

Try to sit by people who look like people you want to talk to.

You’ll probably sit next to nice/friendly people who you can enjoy the game with…You might eventually make friends who are in a football group. (A lot of people don’t get season tickets if they don’t have a group.)
Both of the above happened to me last year when I was in the same situation.
And I did see talk about forming football groups on Facebook. I didn’t join because I was afraid of sitting next to people I didn’t like. In retrospect, I should have done it, since it’s not that serious and I could have changed seats any time

so you didn’t join a group and didn’t have any problems?

Same problem here. I’m from a very small town, and the only person I know on campus is my cousin (not very close). I LOVE football, but I don’t know anyone to go with, and my parents don’t like for me to be by myself at large events like that. Should I just watch from the nice air conditioning in my dorm room or try to go to the games?

I think I posted this earlier, but a good idea is to get the LASP and go to the draws with the new friends that you will undoubtedly make in the first couple weeks of school. Sometimes you even get lower deck seats in the draw!

Are LASP season tickets really worth it? I’m willing to get in line super early for the drawing if that helps ensure seating with just the LASP…

As long as you get in line around 7:00am, you’re fine with just a LASP (not a season ticket). It’s really not that bad – it’s in a food court area, so you can move a table over to your spot in line and study or do homework for a couple hours. So, it’s not like you’re wasting any time, and in fact, you’re probably being more productive than usual!

Ah crud, I keep talking about the season tickets when I mean only the LASP… But thanks for the advice, soadquake! I think that’s what I’m going to do.

If I already bought the LASP and the season tickets but didn’t join a group…can I still join one?

Kaylune: no. You have to join a group when you buy the ticket.

Okay, I ordered my LASP ticket earlier today, but cannot for the life of me find where I’m supposed to buy the football season ticket. When I try to buy one, the only option they give me is the $395 option. I’m concerned, since I created a seating group and the deadline is tomorrow, that I won’t be able to purchase one. What do?

Call the boxoffice…they will help you.

What does buying a LASP do for you? What’s the point of paying $80 if tickets aren’t guaranteed for you?

The LASP isn’t just for football… it gets you into all other sporting events on campus as well.

Can someone please explain what LASP does exactly? I’m still confused…so buying the LASP makes you eligible to win tickets to every game? What if you didn’t purchase the LASP now but only wanted to go to a few football and basketball games here and there throughout the year?
