If my DD wants to bring her sister who attends college elsewhere (sacrilege!) to a game and wants to sit with her, can she purchase a student ticket? Do you you have to buy from a student who already has a ticket and isn't going? (double sacrilege!) I do have alumni tickets to the game in question (Navy) but the kids would rather be in the student section. Thanks!!!

Thanks for asking, omermom - great questions.

Another football ticket question from an incoming freshman parent:

I read that ND has a new student seating policy. How is this policy different from previous years and why was it instituted?

Only ND and SMC students can buy student tickets.

Students buy their tickets at the beginning of the season in a booklet. You are not supposed to rip individual tickets out of the booklet (e.g. you need to bring the whole thing to get into each game). You also need to have a matching student ID along with the booklet. So, while she could technically try to buy a ticket from someone, it might be tricky for your other daughter to use it. She could also try sneaking into the section after entering the stadium with her regular ticket, but ushers check your ticket booklet and ID at several points inside. I’ve been able to do this with my sister before but if they catch her they’ll make her move.

Re: the seating policy: in previous years, each student was issued a specific seat number in their class’ section (senior section being the best, underneath the press box). Students could order their tickets with their friends so that they could all sit together. This year, students will be issued a “general” ticket for their class’ section–so, no specific seat. To be honest, a lot of students are not too happy about this, for a variety of reasons. Leprechaun Legion claims the change was made so that the most dedicated fans will be able to get front row seats. Not sure how this will play out in reality–we’ll have to see.

Hope this helps!

I’m pretty sure that there’s an exchange in which kids can swap a student ticket to one game for a non-student ticket to another. Don’t quote me on that, though

Thanks for the responses, everyone! By November we will know how tough it will be to get tickets.
