Foothill & De Anza Colleges?

vp of ops lol

how likely are you to get into a class if you can’t even get on the waitlist. My registration date isn’t for 8 more days and the ONE class I actually need is already full (polisci2). I’ll show up to it either way but any experience with this at de anza?

it’s pretty random, i’ve had classes where teachers just added everyone though a lot of the time they don’t take more than a few if any at all…the one time i tried myself i was 1 person away from getting in (phil 2)

any experience with stockwell? nice guy, not nice guy?

really nice guy, good teacher

You think he’s the type to let me into his class since its my last quarter and my last prereq and I already submitted all my forms to colleges saying I was taking it?

hmmm from what I remember he has a quota of either 40 or 45 and he doesn’t go more than that. I doubt he’d kick somebody off that’s ahead of you to make room but maybe he’ll go with one extra person in his class if you explain it to him. He’s pretty reasonable and understanding so I’d definitely try.

I’ve always thought that the more units you have the higher priority you have to pick classes at De Anza. Is that not how it works? I would think that somebody in their last quarter would have a high enough priority to pretty much get whichever class they want. That was my experience anyway.

its my last quarter at community college, but my first quarter at De Anza which means i get last priority. I really hope I get in.

Sorry, what’s a TAP? Does it have something to do with partnership links with a university? If so then is it absolutely necessary to go to a college that has links to the specific university you want to transfer into or else your chances are much lowered?

Edit: Sorry didn’t read the above post explaining what TAP was… so is it just Foothill that has the Honors program? It looks like De Anza has one too… but is Foothill’s better?

tap= transfer alliance program
heres a link for UCLA
[UCLA - Transfer Alliance Program](http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/tap/)

TAG=Transfer alliance guarantee
UCLA and Berk dont have this, all other UCs its 100% admission.

so out of curiosity cupertinotransfr, do you know me?? were you a recently inducted new member? i’m leaning towards guessing that you’re the guy who said he was interested in economics/finance or something like that in your personal statement lol

Doing Foothill’s Honor’s program gets you TAP certification. De Anza’s Honors program isn’t TAP certified so you cant do TAP at DA, it will show honors on ur transcript for the honor classes that you take but I’m not sure how much the UCs look into that.

Lomkh, yes you are correct. I am the guy who does not know anyone yet, recently inducted to ptk, nasa intern. If you are in icc, you may have seen me fail my election speech. :stuck_out_tongue: If I remember correctly, you are a haas applicant so we should definitely talk some time.

P.S. I am not a jerk in real life, like I am on the internet.

do any of you guys drive to DA and FH from the SF area? I’m thinking about going to one of those colleges to take a few classes that aren’t being offered here. Besides it being shorter, what are the differences between an quarter and a semester system?

Cupertinotransfr, hahaha, i like your p.s.

Which building do you work at at NASA? (I’m assuming you mean Ames right?)

too bad Druehl is not teaching next quarter, he’s the best for poli sci :stuck_out_tongue:
otherwise, u should take him.

haha, i did not see your icc speech, though thankfully you did not see my fail in my ptk speech (i ran unopposed and still lost the first time…)

oh, and yea, i am a haas applicant lol, and you did not seem like a jerk at the ceremony haha

It’s good to see fellow De Anza folks on here. And PTK to boot! :)
