For a NMF: U Al vs U Ky . . . Compare/Contrast?

I agree that the Bama forum all seem to have drank the Kool Aid. As a Bama Parent, I can say I am a big cheerleader because it has exceeded our expectations. I was quite cynical going into it all.

DS chose it over Tulsa. He had many interests and was not 100% set on Engineering. Bama’s generous AP credits provided the flexibility he needed to explore his non-Engineering interests.

Bama was one of thee only Honors Colleges that DS liked. Some Honors programs seemed like more work without the breadth DS was seeking. Don’t get caught up in Honors program just for the sake of Honor’s.

DS did not apply to KY because he felt Bama had more diversity. As an OOS, he was very concerned to have diversity of opinion (not just ethnic or economical)

Coming from Philly, Bama certainly feels like a college town and no where near a city.

DS has no interest in Greek Life and has not felt excluded from opportunities because he didn’t go Greek. He has found less formal than anticipated – He is no where near a Polo/Khaki kid.

He has been very happy with his choice.

IMO – pay housing at Bama NOW to get a choice of living arrangements, but do not make final decisions until spring.

NMF have many fantastic choices. Celebrate that your student will have some great opportunities.

Napermom, that’s a great comparison job. So concise but conveys a lot and all the essentials. Football…bball, LOL.

Crimson Kool Aid :)

But, the reason why is because people (students, parents, alums) just love the school…the students, the faculty, the campus, the opportunities, the scholarships, the city, the teams, everything.
