I am in several ECs but since I have been here for only 5 months now, I think they will pay more attention to previous years are not they?

Caveats: I am not an admissions office and I have never applied anywhere as a transfer student. I am simply at Georgetown student applying my own common sense.

I think both will matter. If you applied to Georgetown last year and were turned down, then you’re trying to prove that you’ve somehow upgraded your application from then. In this case, your ECs for this year could matter a great deal (although GU is more likely to be interested in academic performance). Even if you didn’t apply to GU last year, they’ll be interested in what you’ve been doing with your time. If you played the Tuba for 9 years before college and now you’ve suddenly quit, that raises red flags. On the whole, though, it’s my (probably underinformed) understanding that ECs play a smaller role in transfer admissions than freshman admissions, but don’t quote me on that.

Not speaking of GU specifically, but I would think EC’s would and should play a minimal role. I think going out and being gainfully employed during hours not spent on school and school work shows a higher commitment to self-growth than holding leadership positions in community college clubs. But that’s just me.

Well, RSBuletz, that’s what I did. I worked at one of the foreign Consulates in this Area part time for around 4 months. Combining that with my work study did not leave me a lot of time so I guess my college EC’s won’t be as impressive.
