OK, guys. I don't know whether or not you have seen my "venting" thread (do search cuz im not quite sure where it's located). Anyways, it seems to be a success and the people who use it seem to enjoy it. So, I have decided to start another thread (on the Ivy, top college, and college admission forums) to help soothe the emotions of the over-stressed CC'ers. Simply put, anyone on these forums who has gotten into any ivy league schools (or something comparable) and tell of any competitions they DID NOT win, any tests they DID NOT ace, etc. Bascially, show the frazzled CC'ers that you are human, that you are not god. Thanks to all who respond!

P.S. I am one of these CC'ers who could use this.

Son only participated in 3 ECs. Two he LOVED and one he didn't. He had high hopes of making All State in one of them, but did not make. He had leadership position in the third one, but only went to the minimum required # of competitions with minimal effort.

I was rejected from NJ Governor's School of International Studies. It made me really doubt my chances at top schools, but I'm glad I went for it anyway. It all worked out in the end. :)

I was a straight B and C student in grade school and teachers advised my parents to get me remediary tutoring. Rejected from 3 of 4 very selective summer research programs. The only outside scholarship I won was Nat'l Merit.

I was eliminated from the schoolwide spelling bee in 7th grade for misspelling 'motorcyclist.' I blame it on nerves, of course, but 7th graders are a tough crowd. Everyone was required to enter, and advancing to the finals wasn't exactly cool, but come on... motorcyclist? Shameful.

More recent stuff though... I got an impressive 660 on one of my SAT II's. But I partially blame princeton for making us take three of them anyway.......

I say, ivy league or no ivy league, all of us have failed at something. And lord knows (good pun, get ready) that none of us consider ourselves 'God' or his gift to the world (or so I hope), even if maybe one of our parents with the 'Princeton Dad' mug in his hand may sometimes show signs.

Curiousity, try2becool... are you a collegebound freshman?

I lost every single officer election my senior year - Class President (I had been President Junior year), NHS President, Student Government steering committee, Chemistry Club, Math Club... the only positions I had were those that carried over from the year before. Luckily Princeton didn't notice and I had a very enjoyable Senior year, just focusing on a few activities.

1AmongMany, I wasn't even recognized either. No one has ever gone to HYP in my school... it kinda sucked. I'm not into the limelight, but I really wish it was honored.

They honor military academies, but my hard work getting into handsdown the best school in the US/World for undergrad study is a huge achievement.

I don't really care though when I'm on the cover of Time magazine.

Stellar 690 on one of my SAT IIs.
One legitimate leadership position--I always was averse to the idea of student government in high school.
A good 1/4 of my grades were close A-'s that showed up as solid A's on my transcript.

got a 680 on math the first time I took the SAT I, got a 660 on the chem SAT II, didn't get editor of the yearbook, didn't get a single leadership role I applied for in high school, was failing honors precalc and had to drop it, got rejected from more ballet programs than I was accepted to...need anymore? lol

Umm I had less-than-stunning, pretty average SAT I scores and SAT II Math IIC scores. I just had some other great SAT IIs that saved me in that department.

I've never gotten above a B+ in math. In precalc and calc I got Bs. Also several B+s in science ... am I the only non-straight A student here? Didn't take the AP or SAT II for math. Got a 560 or something on my Spanish SAT II. Senior year Mock Trial was horrible. We almost didn't make state for the first time. Lost state Fed Challenge for the second year in a row.

It does my heart good to see how much I've failed!
