Instead of going to this giant Orientation party thing, my friends and I were all smoking outside it.

*Summer program for pre-freshman
*First year of dorms
*Classes (Major classes, not talking about GE’s where you see them one quarter and not the next)
*EC’s/Clubs

I met some people through orientation who I would call acquaintances. I made my best friends through a small seminar class that I took. Most of the students in the class lived on the same floor so I made friends through them. I also made good friends through different Jewish organizations and made some of my closest friends on my Birthright trip to Israel. I also made close friends through clubs and organizations.

As far as my closest few friends:

I met one in middle school. We just happen to go to the same college.

The other is the roommate/other best friend of said best friend.

The other…(this is a strange story) made a post on the UNC Class of 2012 group about some of the strange habits and odd mannerisms she had and that she was voted “most unique” in her high school class. I PM’d her for some pics of said strange habits and odd mannerisms and she obliged. Somehow, we both ended up going to campus the same day over the summer to take care of some business and ended up running into each other. And the rest is history.

As for all other friends and acquaintances:
Dorm, Classes

I am from Miami and I go to school at Babson which is very small. During orientation if i heard someone speaking Spanish i kind of clung to them because it was something familiar, and my friends freshman year were from all over south america. It’s the same reason why asians stick to asians, indians with indians, etc. But sophomore year i was comfortable enough to break out, so i moved into a new dorm and met the people from there. It’s extremely easy to meet people in a small school, since you tend to run into everyone in class, the dining hall, library, etc. I dont know how it is in a bigger school though. I’m sure greek life is an easy way to make friends, as is being on a sports team. clubs/organizations probably help too.

We all stayed in the dorms on campus
