I got a 1500 on my SAT and 31 on my ACT. My SAT scores are significantly higher. Therefore, should I send both scores to Harvard, or just the SAT? Will the ACT hurt me?
Is this a trick question? Just send the SAT score, obviously. Harvard lets you send whatever scores you want to send.
^^ I agree.
You should NOT submit both ACT and SAT as your scores are dissimilar. (According to concordance tables, a 1500 SAT is equivalent to a 33 ACT.) Harvard, and other college, will use only your BEST test score, no matter what scores you submit. Therefore, It’s a waste of money AND you should not be showing Admissions a lower test score, as they might start to question your critical thinking skills, which will decrease your overall chances. So, yes submitting the ACT could hurt you, as it’s a vastly lower score.
I dont appreciate the rudeness, but thanks
^^ I’m from NYC and just telling it like it is. You asked a question that elicited “Is this a trick question” from another poster – so I don’t think my response was that far out of line, as your question was a no-brainer. Why did YOU ask the question? Do YOU think submitting both of your scores would be to your advantage?
Youre making me feel stupid now thanks
Not my intention. Best of luck to you!
No Now i feel stupid
I would submit the SAT score only. My daughter has equivalent scores on ACT and SAT, but the writing differs. She’s contemplating what to send too. Good luck to you!
I don’t know if you’re just feeling embarrassed, emotional, or seeking sympathy. But you’re applying to a school such as Harvard. If you attend, you better get accustomed to people speaking bluntly to you. While you may feel stupid or whatever, you don’t get time to wallow. You’re expected to pick yourself up and get ready for the next project/question/problem set/quiz. No sympathy is going to be offered so you should drop that expectation.
Good luck but stop being a victim.
I feel so stupid and pathetic now…
According to your post history, you said you are also applying to Stanford REA. I don’t know exactly what you are doing, but you cannot apply to both Stanford and Harvard REA.
