He plans to major business or engineer (nothing relate to Chemistry.....)

Thank you !

Woah. 2310 is NOT an average student ^^

The 3.10 will definitely hurt, but it’s not as awful as it could be because of how prestigious your school is… I think the only schools up there that’s really a reach are Georgetown and maybe NYU. The rest, if he writes good essays/is perfect on the other parts of the app, he should have a shot at…I could see him getting into about 1/3 to 1/2 of the schools on the list.

I think he has a few issues. While the top schools on his list (Gtown, BC, Colgate, Emory) will be a no given his rank, some of these schools might bite for the scores. But I doubt those will give him much money, so if he’s not full pay he’ll have issues there.

We are very close family friends. I’m sure money is not an issue.
His parents are thinking about hire an consultant now. Is it too late? Will it help?

Consultants are usually a HUGE waste of money. Whatever advice you need, just post it on here and I’m sure somebody will know how to help you…unless your friend is seriously unique/really special issues deaing with college admission, I wouldn’t recommend it. You’ll just get ripped off.

fuzzy - you are right! But his parents insist to hire one but he doesn’t want it…
