Below average my @$$

If your not going to have anything nice to say don't say it at all. According to the small percent of students who use college confidential, his GPA would be considered average. His EC's however are in not anyway average. It shows that he is incredible in his musicianship. Also JBomb your EC's are just incredible really. Your the kind of student the ivies want to see. Someone who is A) passionate B) does not just study all the time C) builds personality by giving back to the community. All you need is a good junior year and you'll have a great case for schools.

chances where?

eh stupid question ... obviously ivy or something like that =p

Do well on SAT's and make your junior year grades a little better to show upward trend ... and focus on what you like to do. Don't think about colleges when you're doing EC's

thanks guys...too bad even with a 4.0 year i'll end up with a 3.66 cumulative..

my top choices are Yale, Harvard, Stanford, UChicago, UPenn, Northwestern, Berkeley, Duke, Columbia, UW Honors, UCLA, Emory, and NYU....Haven't really researched the "safeties" yet or narrowed down my list.

Thanks for your input.

JBomb08:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Safe Match

If your not going to have anything nice to say don't say it at all. According to the small percent of students who use college confidential, his GPA would be considered average.

The Poster of said he is below average. That would equal 900/1200 SATs, 20 ACT and like a 2.0 gpa. Please dont tell me to not say anything at all.

This person isn't average or below average. He's above average.

To the original poster: Raise your unweighted GPA.

I was referring to my relatively low GPA when I said "below average" when compared to the CC populations or the Asian pool applying to the top tier colleges.

Also, I'm unfortunately out of state for the UC colleges and the GPA would max out at 3.66 by the end of my junior year with two 4.0 semesters. :[

JBomb08:

UCB/UCLA: Match (out of state)

UCs sure, but I don't see ivies. Below average, cliche ECs, PSAT indicates below average SAT, nothing says ivy.
And they hate when you take SATIIs in your native language so I'm hoping you're not Korean.

thanks...that's kind of what i was expecting.

um...i'm kind of confused how is a 3.6666 unw gpa average =( i thought that was below average...
however, great ec! gl!

i see that as below average as well actually, but my course load (15-16 ap's including senior year) may make it "average"...although that depends what the measurement is. (CC average, asian applicant average, average for ivy, etc)

15-16 aps counting classes or semesters? If classes I'm so sorry definitely high above averrage =D

yeah classes. probably 8 or 9 by end of junior year.
