For people who applied through the common app

How long is it taking people to receive a decision if they used common app versus Pitt application

I applied through the CommonApp on October 15th and then submitted my SRAR on the 16th. My buttons came on the 25th and I got my letter & video on the 29th! I don’t think submitting through the CommonApp slowed down the process at all.

If I applied on October 19 and still have not heard back is that a bad sign? @biggcollegeguy

My son applied on 10/13, application was complete (SAT scores sent) on 10/17. Buttons showed up on the app yesterday, we’re still waiting on an email/official notification.

So, no, I don’t think you should be worried.

Not at all! If you had already heard back, I’d be surprised. If I were you, I’d expect a notification sometime next week; if you’re lucky, perhaps you’d hear back this weekend or at least have your buttons change. Even if you don’t hear back next week, there’s still a chance you’ll get in! Good luck!

Okay, thank you guys so much
I feel a bit relieved now

@7T01R01 Make sure that you check your spam folder daily if you’re not already doing so. Last year D had several Pitt emails dumped to the folder by gmail. You should have received the SRAR information along with information on how to set up a Pitt account to check your application status.

Hello! Applying through the Common Application should not slow down the process for you. We typically estimate 4-6 weeks for applicants to get a decision back from the date their application is complete.

I do want to note that we’ve received a large influx of applications in the last few days – which is slowing down processing times. We’re working long hours to ensure that every applicant gets a thorough and efficient review. If you applied in the last few days, expect to hear from us by mid-December. Thanks for your patience!

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

If I submitted application via CommonApp, would the fee waiver still work?

@dophie My daughter applied through the Common App and was able to use her fee waiver. Good luck.?

Can someone explain what they mean when they say “my buttons came up”? We are just looking at the app status and it says “complete” but we haven’t downloaded an app.

I have the exact same question! What buttons?? All my son’s says is ‘this application is complete’ when he logs in on the Pitt.edu site and checks ‘application status’

@abbeany @mombird There is an app version of the portal, and the admissions status page will change to have “Accept” and “Decline” admissions buttons. This happened for my daughter and she received the email acceptance shortly afterward.

interesting…he just downloaded the app, logged in and it has accept/decline buttons but when he clicks on it is says “you do not have any pending applications at this time” I need a sign! Any sign! LOL…

Is it the Univ of Pitt app in the app store? If it is, can someone guide me as to how to access his admissions portal thru this app? I’m not usually this dumb but I don’t see any reference to the app in any of the email communications we have received. He can log into the portal on the computer but there are no “buttons” just the “application is complete” notice.
I’ve downloaded and have tried to log in using the same login credentials as I do on the computer but it rejects it. Thoughts?

the one ds downloaded said “university of pittsburgh app” and it was in the app store. He logged in with the credentials sent by the school in the email acknowledging receipt of his application. His login is a bunch of numbers and then the password is also part of his last name followed by part of the string of numbers to his log in. Is it possible he changed his log in info in the computer from what was first assigned by the school? I’d go back to the original email and see if you are inputting the correct user ID and pw from that email

@mombird It says no pending applications because it’s already been processed! ? Congrats! You should get email within a day or two.
