For people who are driving to get to their schools instead of flying...

The best thing I did was buy two duffel bags and limit my clothes to only what would fit in the duffel bags. this left plenty of room for other stuff, and it also keeps me from overpacking.

Those spacebags that suck all the air out of things are great for bedding and things like sweaters to cut the bulk.

i agree with kk06. forget the couch, you arent gonna need it. Just get some floor pillows or bean bags. you wont have that much room anyway

If you're bringing enough stuff to fill a minivan AND a car, then you're definitely bringing WAY too much stuff. Sort your priorities and limit it down to filling one car. There's no way you're going to be able to fit your entire wardrobe in your closet/ dresser, so forget about that. Plus you're close enough that if you get sick of something, you can make a weekend trip home and swap out clothes.

And definitely no couch. If I was your roommate, I'd probably strangle you if you walked in with a couch.

lol, it's not like we got it planned out. We're lofting the beds and the loveseat/couch is going under one.
