If you’re really committed, then more power to you :P

Pediatrics for me (: I love working with kids and I’m always so good with them. I also think it will be great to help them recover from a fever, a contagious disease, etc. It’s great because they grow up so fast and it’ll be so interesting to track their progress.

how about neurosurgery? How hard is obtaining residency programs for neurosurgery?

high school doesnt matter? sign me up!

^lol…

^probably difficult because it’s surgery, not internal medicine. There is probably tons of pressure, especially because you will be a “newbie”. You don’t have much to fall back on should something go wrong, but kudos to you for wanting to go into that field! It’s awesome.

^yea I know…it’s a bumpy road ahead of me…Bring it bumpy road!!!

I know, right? That’s the right mindset to be in, though. It’s hard to become a pediatrician and not many people know this. After undergrad and med school, I’ll have to do 3-4 years of residence (typical for future pediatricians), and then I’ll have to take all of the board tests in order to be “legal” to work in the health field. On top of that, I will have to take special tests administered by a pediatric board/society (depending on where I’ll live in the future). Only after that can I become a true pediatrician!

It’s a lot of hard work, and the road ahead may be bumpy, but there is NOTHING more rewarding than being a doctor-especially being a pediatrician (for me, personally).

3-4years? Halleluajah! (did i spell that right?)

I’ll have to do 7 years of residency on top of undergrad AND MEDSCHOOL. Im gonna be an old old man.

I’d just like to say that if you only want to be a doctor for the $$$, please don’t put yourself through the hell that will be med school + residencies. You probably aren’t fit to be a doctor anyways if you only want money out of it.

Oh, no. That is a long time. Let’s do that math: 4 + 4 + 7 = 15 years, assuming that everything goes smoothly and that you don’t want to get a MA or PhD. I guess mine’s not bad in comparison: 11-12 years.

I will be almost 30 when I can finally become a “real” pediatrician. Oh well, it’s what I have to do to reach my dreams.

^I don’t think anyone here wants to become a doctor because of the money. Sure, physicians/surgeons are paid well, but they do what they do to serve people, not so they can get rich. I know I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s at least how I feel.

^No matter what we end up becoming, we’re going to be looking back at HS, thinking how silly it was to put alot of stress on ourselves that early xD (well at least me)

Hell no. That’s not my reason. The research Im doing in my neuroscience lab is freaking cool. It really opened my eyes. But money is a good side benefit tho :)

Stress relative to that of your peers at that age is what i mean to say.

^^That was just a general statement, not directly aimed at you.

btw I wanna be a psychiatrist n_n

I am actually so pumped for med school. The first two years = mostly learning the foundations of science, anatomy, etc. The last two years = fun rotations!

^you should get an MBA degree as well. That would give you the authority to open your own ward! That’s way cooler

Yea im just thinking about college…one step at a time

Yeah, I’ve heard that it’s really useful having both an MD and MBA. Having both can get you far! Well, I’ll consider it.

Question: If you didn’t become a doctor for whatever reason, what job do you think you’d have?

lol med school people.
