for recommendations...

I just sent my counselors recommendation because that was all that was required..should I send in teacher recommendations as well? What is the norm? My teachers have already filled out common app forms/columbias, so I didn't want to bombard them with all these different forms if it isn't necessary

You can send in teacher recommendations as well if you’d like. There’s not requirements as who you need to get your recommendations from (other than your counselor). Usually, students have the counselor for the “academic” side of the student’s achievements and then another teacher/mentor for the “extracurricular” side of the student that a counselor would sometimes be unaware of.

Overall, recommendations only help you, so it wouldn’t hurt.

I would definitely send in a teacher rec because counselors usually don’t know a student as well as teachers do. A teacher would also be able to comment more on your social and academic skills which USC really cares about.
