I thought there are 8 spaces/rows for your to fill out your course schedule on the common app.

I was talking about Northwestern's application (individual college's applications).

hey guys, let me just give it bump!

Also, I have a question concerning application to British Schools: how does it go?

Anyway, after looking at the newly released Princeton application, I felt quite reluctant to use it though, mainly because of the Essay topics. They don't even have the "Topic of your Choice" option any more!

I hope they don't penalize us for using the common app.

Yoooooooo I've missed this thread! I was at a summer program until last weekend so I missed out on the last two pages!

Summer = awesome. Except I decided to be stupid and set myself up for a ton of stress. I swear that's why I'm breaking out right now.

How are apps going guys?

I can't cut down my list of 15 colleges. AHHH!!

Wow, fifteen!?

Well, mine was ten earlier, but I cut it down by just sitting down and looking at everything in terms of whether or not I'd be happy there/ the area's environment. That substantially cut down my list, so maybe it'll help you, too?

And YAY, primeminister, you're from Tokyo? I live about two hours north of there... do you go to a private school in the area (i.e. ASIJ)?

lol, I know exactly what you're going through primeminister. It seems like all I can do is add colleges to my list -- not remove them. lol. I think that one week this summer, I'm just going to sit down and look seriously at the list of colleges I'm considering, and make some tough choices. After all, it's better to apply to less and get into your top choices than it is to apply to more and miss getting into your top choices because you were too busy with the other 14 college apps. :] Best of luck to you though!

My list was 21 just three days ago, but now it's 13 schools. My sisters both applied to 12-14 schools, too, so I don't think I'll be able to convince my dad that I have too many.

I think it's just absolutely fine to have a long list of schools, if you are happy to attend all of them if accepted (and if you have enough time to write a bunch of essays). I am planning to go for around 10 in the US, 5 in Canada, and 2-3 in Britain. The Canadian ones are my safeties, since I heard people say that they only look at academic performance. The British schools (Cambridge, Oxford, and London school of Economics and Political Science) have actually aroused my interest in the past few days (because of their speedy application process). By the way, I am choosing Princeton for ED, and I am also planning to use their own app. Their essay topics this year are HARD!

Ooooh are the essay topics really that hard, that's unfortunate, though lucky enough from what I hear they dropped the number and now you have to do only one essay for Princeton :p, but anyway, yeah I did 12 myself and I feel that as long as I was happy to attend any of the ones on my list than that's fine with me, and here's perhaps a way to like your safeties, just look at it as financial security and that should ease some of the pain [not the best word I know], but yeah, and I did eight reaches, two matches/slight reaches, and two safeties so just reach for the stars. Also, if you find a school that you'd be happy to attend with rolling admissions, get that over with, because then if you're accepted people really can't criticize you for having a top heavy list since you already have the security of an acceptance [just a thought], oh and good luck :D

really? One Essay for Princeton only? I checked a few days ago and they still wanted 2 essays. And essays....god..they are all about writing something about "their" famous quotes.

Oh I remember that, it's basically a clever way of saying "why I want to go to school X" but of course I did it anyway :p, btw are you doing the Princeton app or the common app supplement, maybe that's where the difference though I can very well be wrong since I'm not up to par with what's on apps this year, though I think what I heard about was based on the supplement.

Thanks Tonyt88:)

Yeah, the Princeton supplement had two short essays last year, but only one short essay this year. The long essay is still there.

So, in summary:
Princeton last year - 1 long, 2 short
Princeton this year - 1 long, 1 short
Pton Supp last year - 2 short
Pton Supp this year - 1 short

I swear when I saw all those quote prompts I was ready with my AP Lang skills to "defend, challenge, or qualify" or rhetorically analyze each of them... I miss that class. :(

But I agree. I liked last year's prompts much more.

I guess I'm a little late to join this thread, but I really really wish I had a lot of schools like you guys. So far, I've got about 3 schools I'm seriously considering applying to: 2 super-competitive ones and then our big public university in-state. I think I need to stop being so picky :(

I was picky at first, but then I realized that if I just applied to Yale and Rutgers I would most likely end up at Rutgers... so I had to cut some slack on the others. :p

yeah same with me. I'm trying to be less picky so that I'll at least have somewhere to go..I guess that explains why I have 15 colleges in mind! haha

For those Princeton EDs, are you guys planning to use the Princeton App or the Common App? Hand write or Online?

Of course I'm going to chime in and say I did the RD common app with supplement [handwritten] and another girl did ED handrwritten Princeton app.
