For The College Bound Student..

I think this is the BEST book out there on surviving your first year. It isn't written by some supposed "expert" on college. It's a collection of suggestions from current students on different topics. I love it!

It's called: How to Survive Your Freshman Year.

They also have a website: http://www.hundredsofheads.com/freshman-year/index.asp

Hmm.. after reading few demo pages it looks like book is great. I
ll wait for more posts in this thread. Some tips are stupid
"Don't buy computer" (page 10) or
"You don't really need anything, just borrow stuff" (page 11)
But there are also many helpful tips

Looks interesting. Some of those quotes date back 20 years ago.

I think you could get the same thing (but all from recent students/parents of recent students) by simply posting a thread on CC ;)

Yeah i Agree

There's this book that I got like 2 years ago with this Peterson pack I bought when studying for the SAT's. I bought it for the SAT and math book they had, but I think it's called The College Survival Guide or something like that. It's a really good book, with a lot of useful information on everything. Including essential items that college students should bring. Let's just say I've been prepared for college for the past two years :).

Here's the website http://www.petersons.com/books/collegesurvival.asp

I have the older version, but it's all the same. Well...this one will be better.

Thanks alot for posting this, harmon. I ended up browsing through the demo, and then immediately ordered it on Amazon since it looked helpfull.

Best one: "IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM and don't know how to wash your own clothes, do not push the "help" button. This button is for security purposes only; for example, if you are attacked. No little helper will come and help you wash your clothes. Instead, you will sound the alarm and call the police. "

I read this book and found myself wondering how many people had managed to do that.

Hahahaha
Hooking up on Halloween, dont do it.

most excellent.

. . . wait . . . why not?
