For the internationals from China

well a pure Chinese here:D
what Albus.Yu said is true. we got two 2400s last year and one this year.
but there are countless 2200+and 2300+
we dont have test centers in mainland cuz of some unknown reasons...
but it's like that throngs of chinese students rush to HK for the SAT1 AND 2.

hmm you mean the "one this year" comes from mainland china is it? cos from my school alone, there's already one PRC who got 2400 (one sitting)

Well, that's not amazing to us at all.
I know many students in MY SCHOOL who went to Singapore...And I live in one of the least developed provinces...
Actually, I guess the number 100+ might be a bit low... Whatever, I know little about these things...

Well I'm part of the international high school scene in Beijing. We take our exams here, but since a lot of us are internationals/non-Chinese, the SATs aren't all hardcore 2300+

I got a 1980, which is apparently very low for a Chinese. Retaking in Dec. Bleh.

^^^ kirin, i'm also studying here in Beijing, but had to take the SAT in Hong Kong...from what i've heard, only students from the International School of Beijing are allowed to take it here in BJ..are you from that school?

^^khan91,
Your name suggests that u r an indian?????

khan91: exactly. most of the students in china get 2350-2400/1550-1600 in sat2, but 2200s and 2300s in sat1 are FAR FROM "COUNTLESS". i guess i can count those in shenzhen last year by my fingers.

bump 10char

@ cui bono: no, i'm not indian, but i'm not Chinese either. that's the reason i was asking the above poster, because i'm an international and yet i have to travel to HK for the SAT

@tim5168 : i'm guessing you're Chinese (well, your location gives it away :D)......any idea why this is so.>,,i mean why so awesome at the SAT sub tests./.....yet solid but unspectacular at the SAT I?

to khan91:
From what I know, the SATs can be taken at ISB (the school you mentioned) and BISS, where I take it. I also heard that it can be taken at WAB, but I'm not so sure about that one.

ISB only allows ISB students to test there, but BISS is open for all. I don't know if this is a widely-known thing though, since only about 10-15 test takers show up at BISS on any given test date. If you don't mind me asking, which school do you attend?

I'm curious, do all of you go to international or one of those special in China?

to kirin,
i attend the Pakistan Embassy School...

swellkisses, of course just one or two attend in International school in China. You need special background to do so....like a citizenship in another country which would cause you to quit your Chinese citizenship but you still can speak Chinese.
I do not know about the statistics in other provinces, but in my school which is the best in Zhejiang province, you would be a superman if you have got 2200 in SAT I. Typically we have approximately 20 or so range from 2000-2120, among which I too have to stay. We deal with that test only using our spare time, for you can't wish your school report or GPA be a tragedy to see lest you presume all the other guys would bear you being both top in Chinese high school tests and the SAT. Thence I extrapolate the situation would be similiar in other provinces but Beijing and Shanghai(They have more experience in applying to US than us, e.g., the school will mark your score specially in order to remedy your astonishing spending of time on the SAT), notwithstanding a few geniues there. After all you can't discard Gaokao, or you were taking a great risk as your teacher and parents would say.

Only one 2400? How about 2300+?

buccaneer, thanks, that's what I thought. I had to prepare extensively for Gaokao that there's just no time to do anything else.
