For those of you who haven't yet received your financial aid package

Please report here when you do end up receiving it, we can use this thread as a heads up for those (including me) that are still anxiously awaiting our packages. It would be awesome as well if we could share any new info.

CSS says my award letter date is 3/19, other people also have the same thing. It’s probably just an estimate though, I hope it comes out earlier

I do hope it comes out by then at the very least, if not earlier. I emailed them and they told me they are being posted as they are being processed and that we should check our portals to see whether it’s been updated. I don’t believe RPI does a lot of emailing when updates have been made. Please report back when you find out!

@Ibu250 what do you mean your css says your award letter date?
ETA: nevermind my son’s has the same date. I thought it was somehow personalized!

Where do you see the award date? All I see is the red text on the portal saying Financial Awards will begin posting March 10th.

It’s where you submitted the CSS profile.

My son received his Financial Aid statement/Merit Award today. He received an email and on the portal there was a note saying status update March 15 and a link to his financial aid letter. So it looks like they are starting to roll them out.

Thanks a lot for the update. I and the others who haven’t received their packages yet appreciate it. I feel like I would have received it today, however, there was something incorrect on my FAFSA that they just fixed which I believe slightly delays things.

Ours came today.

Thanks! Who’s still waiting to hear back? I’m praying we get it on Monday.

They took the little red text off our portal which had said they will be coming in the next couple of weeks so it looks ike they are trickling out though we have not gotten anything yet.

Red text is still there for me. Looks like I’ve got some more waiting to do

It took two weeks after I was admitted a few years ago to get my scholarship/aid letter -you’ll get it eventually. For me, it was definitley worth the wait since they ended up giving me a really good offer. Calling the financial aid office once a week (more effective than emailing) and politely asking for the status of your award letter can help speed up the process. It also shows interest in the university.

Ours came in this morning.

Still waiting, hope it’s here by weeks end at this point. Why do you say that calling is more effective than emailing? RPI is my first choice but also my most expensive option and I’m low income so holding off on depositing for now.

@FebruarysFinest I just found that when I called and was nice they pushed my financial aid application up the list. Also, in terms of making it more affordable, consider being able to work over the summer in your financial calculations. I’m able to shave around $4k every year off the bill from working during the summer (like $8k-$12k if you get a co-op) and then from work study. This applies to pretty much any college.

Thanks for all the help, not just here but around the entire RPI forum. I’m going to call, see if I’m missing anything, and then politely ask when I can expect my financial aid package.

Also, people are saying to leverage other packages if you need more money, as long as those offers come from comparable schools. Here’s my dilemma, I got a full scholarship to William and Mary which is a pretty good school, but they don’t have an engineering program. Should I still mention this to get more aid should I require it?

When you receive the form for appealing your aid you will see very specific instructions in what you can claim and how to send copies for the proofs. As far as I understand it, these following institutions should be an accurate representation of the list of peers for RPI. If anyone has any input please correct where needed. When I entered my appeal I used CMU, CWRU, and RIT even though they didn’t consider RIT.

Boston University
Carnegie Mellon University
Case Western Reserve University
Cornell University
Lehigh University
M IT
Northeastern University
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Rice Univeristy
University of Pennsylvania
University of Rochester
Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Still no financial aid package here. Those of you who received it in the last few days - did th y email you or did you just log in and see it? That portal is pretty busy looking so I keep thinking I will miss it.
