hey, im a korean student in Virginia and i just got my acceptance letter to U of Mich Ann Arbor yesterday. I applied 1/1/05.
I always worried about getting into a school b/c of my considerably low SAT score. I
my stats were IB Diploma Candidate, 4.7 GPA 1210 SAT, 630 TOEFL, Class President, Captain of sport teams, a lot of EC and pretty good essays.
I just want EVERYONE who are worried on this forum to know that..
I was one of those people who was always on this site everyday tryin to figure out whether i could get into a college or not comparing myself to other people's stats and seeing who got in with the lowest stats.
From what others have said..U of mich... for an out of stater in VA..who applied late in January with a SAT score of 1210...had absolutely no chance..
and i did get in.maybe it was my GPA, maybe its b/c i am a minority, or mayb e its b/c i came from another country, or maybe i was just lucky.
I have to agree numbers really matter, but I just wanted some people to know that there is hope. its always 50% 50%.. its either u get in or not. u NEVER know.
I wish luck to everyone who's still waiting.

Perhaps another thing your case illustrates is that U-M is far more impressed with great grades than with great scores.

congrats....btw did ur mail come through from the US Postal service?

Thanks, that was somewhat conforting =) except i'm kind of the opposite...3.3 GPA and 1460 SAT. And I applied earlier than you as well...Dec 14. I'm not feeling too confident about my chances right now, but congrats on your acceptance anyway!

hoedown- yeah i do know UM really put grades be4 test scores, and i am very thankful for that

mishra- i got my mail through us postal service, First-class MAIL

Nirvana33- you're welcome, i wrote that to comfort other people who are still worried, and dont give up your hope b/c be4 i got in to Umich, i saw a person last week on this forum who applied end up Jan and got in 2/9.. (i applied 1/1 and got in 2/11) I had the same feeling u had of not feeling very confident. i guess its hard not to have that feeling but dont lose hope! i wish all my luck to u

You took the TOEFL. Obviously, English is not your first language. So you probably got like a 700 on the math and probably like a 510 on the verbal. And your incredible GPA and strong leadership credentials (captain of varsity and class presidents) also helped. Eitherway, you are a strong candidate and had you asked about your chances I would have told you that they are decent. I am not surprised you got in. Well done. I hope you join the family!

Did you also get an email ?
and did it show ur status accepted online?

no acceptance emails, and does not show online that im accepted.
just got a mail saying I got in.

thanks ...
