When I started this thread, honestly I was torn apart, my hearth was at UCLA but the reputation and prestige of UCB were like a magic power. I decided to visit both school, so that I can make my final decision. I am just back from UCB, visited POl S department, and talked to several people, professors. I came to the conclusion that UCLA is far better for Pol S than UCB. IF you ask me why, I'll have hard time explaining. Now, I am happy because no longer have doubts. UCLA is my final choice!!!!!!!

i'm glad that you have made your final choice! So you submitted the SIR to UCLA already?

haybaxt - do you have aim or myspace? becaue I have a few questions to ask you about your visit.

brandonconfidntl, I have not set up one yet, if you have any questons, I'll be happy to answer, you can send me a private message, I guess that way we can perfectly communicate..

UCLA has archery? I'm game!

UCLA has pretty cheap **** as recreation...$45 for martial arts...im game

sarcasmgirl,

Honestly, I think you should go to CAL. I'm sure you will love it there. Sometimes changes are needed, you know?

UCB has some homeless people around the campus... I"m not sure if you guys have heard about this. The campus itself is old, too.

"The campus itself is old, too."

Is that a bad thing?

And have you been to downtown LA? You should check out skid row...nothing but homeless, drug addicts.

Yeah, it seems a lot of people are saying that. The only people who want me to go to a school closer to home are my parents and some friends who just like LA in general and think it'd be great if I could come down OC to hang out.

I hate being so indecisive, but making a decision actually makes me feel worse than when I'm trying to decide on something (especially on something this big). Haha, someone should just submit my SIR for me and make me shut up! :)

I agree with you on this, but LA has a lot of homeless people, too. The first couple of times I went to LA I thought it was depressing. I think I got used to it and became more apathetic towards the impoverished areas. Though it still makes me sad, I think it's something you just have to accept and deal with (usually ignore for most people) because you're going to run into slums and poverty every where.

As for the "old campus," most of the UC campuses are pretty old (and some probably dilapidated and outdated) in the first place, but I thought Berkeley was pretty nice. Personally, I like UCLA better, but Berkeley is also beautiful in its own way. I can't describe it very well, because I didn't actually tour it or look around the city too much (I just quickly walked through it and left to go somewhere).

IT just depends on your point of view. Cal can either look old to you or historic.

sarcasm--a lot of people who get into Cal and UCLA make reasonable decisions about where to go. Each campus and surrounding area offers different things. I thought you were leaning towards UCLA.

Yeah, I appreciate hearing different opinions...

I think I have made up my decision now. Anyways, for whatever choice we have made, let's be proud of it!
If you choose UCB, great! If you choose UCLA, great! If you choose other school, great!

I hope everyone would enjoy in whatever school you have chosen!

Also, I think I will not be around this CC forum as often as I used to, but i'll be around and help out some perspective transferring students...

TO ALL, this has been a great place to meet many of you brilliant transferring students, thank you to all the members who have helped me, thank you to all who have contributed important information to this forum... :)

so kev which school did you decide on?

I'm proud to join UCLA, Go Bruins!!!!!

How about you guys?

Sweet man. I ended up being a bear. Having to pick between UCLA and Cal is what I call a high quality problem :-)

hahahhh... great, you have finally made the final decision. It is such a tough decision for realz. Would you mind sharing how you have come to that final decision to become a Bear?

lol I gotta go to class but I'll get back to ya on that.

I was, but I received some convincing arguments from my sister and a friend who thought Berkeley would be better for me. I guess the sole reason I'm having trouble making my decision is because I can't bring myself to committing to move away from home (yes, I know this is exactly the reason why I should go to Berkeley!).

Please give me your student ID number and password (for CAL) so that I can submit your SIR for you.
