For Those who recieved Yale Decision

I wonder if we could compare whether supplemental materials aided in the deicion process. For example I only sent in the one Supplemental essay and I got in. How about everyone else?

i did the supplemental essay and put a short description of my ECs in the additional info section of the common app.

did u get in?

yeah i did.....

I did the supplemental essay and attached two pages of activites. I got in.

I did the supplemental essay, 2 pages of ECs and supplemental materials (writing) and I got in. Thought I might annoy them with so much extra stuff, but I guess it worked!

supplemental essay and resume. yes, i got in.

same, extra essay + two page resume. I go in too

I win the prize for most extra junk....I included:

supplemental essay
another supplemental essay (explaining my suspension, so it was necessary)
2 extra letters of recommendation
a brag sheet
a research abstract
a partridge in a pear tree

And I got in!

awesomo 10 char.

I was accepted and submitted:

the supplemental essay wasn't' really optional...

but yeah I did that and an actiivity resume.

Wow, you guys sent in a lot of stuff! Do you think Yale considers all this supplementary material? Might it be unfair to other applicants who've submitted the bare minimum, since the Adcom wouldn't learn about them as much? I'm planning to do the same thing for the RD round, but I was wondering what your views are on this.

I sent in the supplemental essay, resume, musical bio, 2 cds, scores and an additional recommendation.

I only used the EC form from the Common App, should I send in a full list? I was deferred.

I sent in a resume, a theatre resume, a CD, and 2 extra letters of recommendation. I think it is common practice to send in an activities resume in addition to the common app ECs form.

Oh, well that might've helped. Thanks, I'll be sure to do that.

I sent in a music cd, the supplemental essay, and an extra reccomendation from a music teacher. I got deferred.

I got in. And I think I win for most papers included! ahaha:

-580 word supplementary essay
-Stanford University Transcript (I have taken math 6 courses)
-3 Research abstracts
-A 20 page research paper on diluted magnetic semiconductors
-A statement of why I included these materials (I didn't believe that my application really conveyed my scientific ability..) with a link to my website with 2 more 20 page research papers
-A supplementary recommendation from my research mentor at MIT's Francis Bitter Magnet Lab.

Note: I am not a transfer student. I am a high school student. Also, I did not do RSI.

I was a little scared I sent too much stuff. I guess it paid off!

Ahhhh.....you're one of those freaky super-genius kids I was talking about.
